Pause the vid at 3:56 when the MTL #9 player is on the blue line. There you will see that she has her stick above her head for a the moment. That's why you thought there was some kind of high action, but there isn't. It happens so fast your eyes didn't pick it up. Now, press play and pause again quickly, so that the vid is still on 3:56. There you will see that she brings down the stick to below her waist. Then press play and pause again quickly, and now it's on 3:57. You'll see TOR player losing her stick and whining. That's 2 movements not one. 1- #9 had her stick above her head and brought it to below her waist. 2- #9 did a stick check carrying no momentum from her previous movement. She didn't pull her stick backward to gain more momentum. She brought it down, stopped, then whacked forward. Look how weak the other player's hold is on her stick, she is holding it with one hand only as she tries to collect the puck. You can clearly see that the MTL #9's full movement is forward and sideways below the waist and it carried no momentum. There is no slashing there, that's just a whack to the stick. (unless it hit the player and not the stick but we can even hear the stick being whacked.....) There was no strength in her movement either. The only time you're going to get a penalty like this is if the player who loses the stick isn't anywhere near the puck. But that would be interference or obstruction, even if the stick check comes from below and whacks up the stick in the air. What we have here is was a pure forechecking stick check that was forward movement only. It didn't even touch the player. Her movement didn't come from behind her or from above her head like a slash movement. It's stuff like that makes people not take this league serious. That was weak.
