One of Kylie Minogue’s signature songs, “Better The Devil You Know” was the lead-off single from her third LP “Rhythm Of Love”.
The track is a staple of Kylie’s live sets and was a UK number two hit in May 1990. The track also featured on the soundtrack to the Richard Grieco film “If Looks Could Kill”.

You can blame geffen records for this. After minor success with the first album and singles in USA her 2nd album flopped , so she lost her record deal in USA. Very ,very short sighted. I would’ve loved to have seen what USA would have thought of her rhythm of love album and singles

@@scottward7850Yeah, when I heard "What Do I Have to Do" a couple of months ago, I was shocked (yeah also a great song) that I had never heard of that song before cuz it was so damn good. I can't imagine that wouldn't have been a hit back in the day in the States. That was a period when there was a lot of dance music on pop radio.

One of my favourites. It was, indeed, a seminal moment in Kylie's life and career. It signifies an important marker, where she gained the ability to have more creative input into the clips, and the management of her music in general. I just love the classic Hit Factory sound. Mike and Matt are fantastic musicians with incredible composition and arrangement skills, and Pete mixed and produced them to perfection. It's easy to see how they pretty much OWNED the pop chart from the mid 80s to the early 90s. WHY DOESN'T ANYONE DO EPIC KEY-CHANGES ANYMORE?!

This song was so important for Kylie, it showed people and critics that she was so much more than a soap actress dabbling in music, it really cemented her as a pop star and was the beginning of people viewing her seriously as a recording artist. Love you, goddess of pop ♡

They always saved their best stuff for Kylie. She was their first and best pop star, she still talks very highly of them too. This is where she started to transition into her Showgirl era and her stuff began to have music videos that actually had a lot of thought put into them too.

That describes it so perfectly! I was just thinking that there was something so sinister about the instrumentals, melody, back vocals, and lyrics; yet Kylie's voice itself sounds nice and devoid of malevolence. This song gets better with every listen.

My favourite Kylie song! Pushing the boundaries to reinvent herself; and it worked ! Now sure why there was such a big Who- ha about her dancing with the Black guy ?! The contrast looked beautiful and more importantly the dancing was on point ! Kylie was one of my first artists I listened to ✌🏼

I was a 24 year old Royal Military Policeman serving in Osnabrück, Germany at the time. I remember this song so clearly at the time. Most beautiful woman I've ever seen is my wife who just happens to be Russian. However, you've great taste. It was a fantastic time to be young. I loved those days.

I'm from the US, and of course, never knew this song existed until it was used as a lip sync song on "Drag Race Down Under". Of course, we've gotten a few Kylie songs on the radio over the years here (first introduced in high school with "Can't Get You Out of My Head"), but I can't for the life of me understand why she isn't more popular here. Oh well. This track is incredible! Love, love, love the early 90s dance feel!
