The M4 iPad Pros gave me eye strain and a motion sickness wave coming over my shoulders within just 5 minutes of using them at the store (the fastest negative reaction I've ever felt). No OLED Apple products for me 😞

You're not alone sadly. I have the S9 FE because it's an IPS LCD, vs OLED.

I think it's not because of oled but the animation of apple. I faced the same thing when I bought my first ipad (mini 5) 4 years ago. And this thing doesn't have oled but I'd felt the motion sickness and neck ache for few weeks.

That really sucks because I would love a modern good display but I KNOW I wouldn't be able to use any kind of pled or amoled. ips is the only one I can use, which immediately cuts down most of tablets.

This is the first video that I finally see the pwm on M4 iPad pro, ths. For pwm sensitive people, the OLED screen is simply a straight disaster, I will keep using 2020 iPad pro 12.9.

that's because he changed the shutter speed settings of his camera to visualize the flicker. In real life or regular video capture you don't see any flickering at all. I think the M4 ipad pro should be less of a problem to pwm sensitive people, because it uses a really high frequency, which is a good thing, so definitely try it out at a store.

Does the new iPad pro have a true 120Hz display or does the tandem OLED use some interlaced 60Hz trickery across each panel to simulate 120Hz?

I don't have the exact equipment to test though. When I use shutter speed 1/60, 1/80 and 1/125, I don't see flicker which is not surprisingly because they match the refresh rate. There's probably flicker with 1/125 but I don't see it. When it goes to 1/160 there is flicker.

That’s a darn shame, I was hoping this new Tandem oled would get rid of PWM. Wack!! So much for looking forward to it going in iPhones. Suppose my SE3 truly may be the last flicker-free iPhone 😞

LCD is the safer choice for no PWM
