I was on a large farming estate for forty years 27 as manager and a lifelong farmer. We managed to move one footpath in all those years to a much more pleasant and sensible walk around the perimeter. Like this farm we kept everything in tip top condition and tried to help and keep the public onside. Local councils adversely were impossible to keep up with.

You are completely right about footpath and bridle paths, a bridle path was for Stallions to be led by the bridle to other farms to cover the mares back in the day before tractors . So no need for them now 👍🏻

Have to say Mr Peck. I am really enjoying the content you are providing, looking at all the aspects of running your business. I am from a farming background and although i have not been involved in farming/harvesting for years, the excitement for the season still remains within. I liken it to the sea with sailors, i think it gets in your blood. Carry on the struggle growing our food, battling with weather/councils and ill informed opinion 👍

Was once told a foot path across a field had to be 4 feet wide so undertakers could walk from church to church carrying a coffin Nice to see you carry out verge mowing and keeping things tidy and safe

PX videos make my day! Although I am not a farmer, I am very interested in arable farming. The way you run it is something to be admired.

Totally agree with your footpath comments, I was a contractor for many years surfacing and cutting back growth on council countryside footpaths in the northeast, the truth is no one including the council want public footpaths through the middle of fields, it’s just that much paperwork and consulting meetings involved it’s not worth the effort, loving that you have regular videos coming out now, keep up the great work ❤

You are 100% right on the archaic footpath byelaws. Crazy in this day and age. Oh, and "empty the dog out"...😅😅 that had me howling with laughter 😅!! Please keep up the excellent work here; your channel has such a breadth of conte t...makes it extremely interesting and informative. And funny too 😂 Thanks!

O dear me, James you are trying to apply common cense to the direction of footpaths, you are offering a far nicer place to walk and enjoy the countryside, you will see far more around the edge of a field, rather than stomping across the middle, both me and you can understand that, BUT I fear you will have stiff opposition, I have to say I loved what you said about the road side verge cutting (better redo that they will think it was us)🤣🤣

Pity about the footpath application. Sometimes I'm a bit of a stickler for history, but at the same time I can see the hassles of paths crossing fields and the work to reinstate them. Good to see you manage the headlands as well as the permissive paths.

Well done James excellent update, although I am now out of main stream farming and just run a small holding in our semi retirement I still remember the build up to harvest like trimming gateways etc, I used to do a circuit of all combinable crops with the sprayer which was fitted with 2 nozzles set at 45° on the end of one boom so killing the bottom metre of the hedge making it far easier and better for the combine on the hedge round. Good to see a modern farm business taking H&S seriously. All good stuff.

I live at Barton upon Humber, North Lincolnshire, some years ago, one of our local farmers successfully got a footpath moved from across one of his fields to follow the field boundary. It met with a bit of opposition from the ‘annual footpath walking’ brigade, but once moved was met with appreciation from dog walkers that they didn’t get wet legs from walking through the crop. Sounds like you need to be applying a bit more pressure to your council. You will get there … eventually great content about the daily activities of PX Farms. 👍

Great video ,but I am surprised that your oil containers do not have to be stored on drip trays in this day and age !

the 2.0 wet belt fords, check the oil strainer they get blocked up after the belt delaminates and then the engine starves of oil 👍 hope you get it going again soon guys

I also believe there is a recall work for this area timing and pulleys. My work van (Transit Custom) has to go to the Dr's soon to have the work done.

Another Great Video . .. Why don't you get a rear offset flail which you offset and tilt, like the Kuhn TBE & TBES flails. Surely that's much better than a fixed front flail for doing gate ways & ditches etc?

I can’t believe a 150hp wouldn’t pay for itself in your operation. Lots of jobs which 400hp is overkill

For low hour use a low hour pre DEF tractor would likely have zero depreciation and would save fuel compared to 400hp high depreciation tractor.

When i used to plough fields, you'd run the tractor across where the footpath went just so people could walk it easier, it is totally ridiculous having a path through a field, they should all go round the outside.

The problem with farming and foodpaths (they used to roads) is that you remove them to get bigger fields and some point there will be no food paths left. Except for the grass around the +200 hectare fields.

In the modern age there shouldn't be footpaths through fields, why would you even want to expose yourself to modern farming chemicals anyway? The pesticides, fertilizers, etc right...no sane person should want to do that anyway. A field isn't the place to be messing around in.

Just watched for the first time ever PX farms video. Title why do we need 12 trucks. Tell U what these seems like difficult people to work for radio fitted to all farm vehicles to make sure everything is busy Al the time. Cameras fitted to inform driver if there's traffic so they can take another route to avoid being in traffic. So tight that every second the driver is on the payroll they want their pennies worth. So tight. Can't be many people stay here to long.

I take it that Fendt doesn't have a reverse operator station? that would be an even better job. Manoeuvrable and driver could see right over his work.
