Eliza is initially portrayed as a project for Higgins, a mere experiment to prove his linguistic theories. She is treated as a blank canvas on which he can project his desires and ideals, without considering her feelings and aspirations as an individual. This objectification devalues Eliza as a person and reduces her to a means for Higgins's intellectual pursuits.
