I have the Pyle Pro PPHP1287 and I took all the original internal components out and kept the speaker box itself and made my own crossover and put a JBL 12" woofer and a EV tweeter and it sounds great. That's what I did to my Pyle Pro speaker cabinet. Great cabinet but I tweak it up abit. Ok ok.... alot! Great review!

no pa speaker can pump out 1400w rms from batteries unless u have a car amp with 100s of 18650s to get 100+amps lol

You'd probably blow that speaker with 200W RMS, never mind 1400W. I just modded an '800W' portable speaker, real power (going from the internal amp chip data sheet) 20W RMS... lol.

Definitely less than 50w. The reasons it sound powerful is because it has a high sensitivity woofer and horn tweeter. And it does not have good bass below 100hz

I interject. This could easily be powered by seal lead acid battery with an inverter. I used to work at Batteries Plus, a battery store, so I am familiar with portable power. This speaker is rated at "1400" watts, which is gross overrating (cheap brands do this). The RMS wattage of the speaker is probably about 600 watts. You'd be safe buying a 800 watt power inverter and hooking that up to a 33ah (amp hour) sealed lead acid battery. That would allow this to be used without a power outlet

Our church has an Ibiza sound one a bit like that. to be fair it's not bad for what it is though I don't expect it to match my passive system for sound quality at high levels. It's bettery powered though and you could take it outdoors in a pinch. It's actually kind of overkill when a cheap pair of 2.1 computer speakers gets louder than we need in that church

that hiss coming from the tweeter would drive me crazy. Was the gain set too high, or doesn't the tweeter always make that hissing sound even with the gain turned down?

Damping to make loudspeakers sound good leaves most modern "sound engineers" more baffled than their transducers. Like politicians, many "reviewers" play truth fast-and-loose. Sound is measured in decibels. Power consumption is measured in watts. 1,400 RMS? At what percentage distortion? Power consumption and fuse size speak volumes. If you're running karaoke for polluted bar patrons with voices like pairs of corduroy pants, the emcee can always blame the P.A.! If your touring road band wants more gigs, it needs durabilility and reliabillity that can only be found at a neighborhood, brick-and-mortar supplier to professional musicians. Small businesses cannot afford to sell junk. Competitors abound. Word spreads fast.

As best I can tell, this speaker barely produces 100db in volume, and it's around $260 at Sears. No idea about quality or distortion at/near peak volume. at this price point, I'd recommend Peavy Dark Matter or Mackie Thump. Lower wattages on the amps, but higher output at 120db or more with very low distortion... go figure. If it's possible to raise the budget, the JBL EON 615 is only $399 right now - probably the best bang for the buck. I went a little higher to get into the 130+dB range with the Yamaha DBR15... $549 with $40 stands included. Bottom line: listen, and try the speaker at various volume levels to ensure consistent sound quality at all levels.

No way it can emit 1400 watts. Maybe 3-400 watts max. If you turn it up all the way all the time then the woofer or tweeter will probably burn out in a couple months. Spend a little more money on your sound, your audience/clients will thank you.

@spartikiss2006
@spartikiss2006 7 жыл бұрын
+OG!Playz Norsk Gaming what exact amp are you using? A lot of companies lie on speakers and amps alike. You need to do an actual wattage test. the pyle pro speaker is not capable of reproducing what it claims to. But for most events you dont really need that much power. most folks would probably be fine with 250-300 watts anyway. So pyle can get away with the numbers game.
@spartikiss2006
@spartikiss2006 7 жыл бұрын
+OG!Playz Norsk Gaming you have no idea what you are talking about. the amp doesn't in a true output test. You need to use a fluke meter to measure it properly. Usually cheap pyle crap can barely push half of what it advertises. This video is showcasing an ACTIVE speaker and you mentioned PASSIVE. So please, get back to me when you have the slightest clue about sound or go measure one of these speakers and get back to me.

Hey, great review! It sounds really good. Two-fold question: I can tell this thing is super loud, but do you think it would be clear enough to be used as a vocal PA in a band? Just one person singing into the speaker. The band is indie/alt rock. Occasionally distorted guitars, but nothing close to metal. Also, do you think a 12'' or 10'' speaker would be better for this application than the 15'' in this one? Thanks!
