I'm an old fart (I was a teenager when the first wave of UK punk hit in 76/77) and this band are just fantastic. A real breath of fresh air and the best thing I've heard in years.

Many thanks for getting this interview. I've recently discovered The Fat White Family and have become curious as to what angle they're coming from and how they perceive what their doing and art in general. If Lias's testament is any indicator of the band at large then they'll be one of the groups I'll be obligated to mention whenever talking music/inspiration for the rest of my days.

Despite what everyone is saying, I kind of like the tension in the interview. This is one of the more entertaining ones I’ve watched. You just seem like an excited fan, I would be too, they rock!

It seems like you started panicking at one point and began asking so many questions at once! You should've just chilled it and let Lias finish his answers... Plus I agree with Lias on the fact that it's bullshit that musicians even at their standard don't get paid shit and don't get rewarded, it's a job and a hard one at that but they still have to live on coaches... Not cool.

+Timothy Pyles I get what you're saying -- a band with money can't generally make music this exciting because there's more to lose, and there's not usually the drive there to provide the urgency needed -- but you're basically telling Lias that his poverty keeps him in a place where you'd like him to stay for your own entertainment. That you'd rather have a spectacle to look at than see him be financially secure. And it seems like he's clearly trying to say that he's only doing this band because he doesn't feel like he has other work options, when he'd rather do something more important than performance art.

I'm in Scotland, every time they come to a bigger venue and it's a sell out. That door might be locked cos of the time I infiltrated them 'chilling' after playing at the o2 ABC. lol
