Just bought the astro pop , 6.2 tested it yesterday, after the first 15 minutes found the sweet spot balance, and had a blast. Felt right at home!

Great to hear, I will definitely be purchasing more of these!

@@TheSurfersJourney yes, good idea. I have 2 now in my quiver. Have the most fun on the funformance 6.6 though. That board is fun, and allmost indestructable ha ha. The astro pop is way faster, but allso more unforgiven.

I got an XTR red tiger in my same height (6’2”) and it’s the most lively short board I’ve ever had. I surf beach breaks in San Diego and it goes great from thigh high to overhead. PERFECT winter short board .

I've been surfing this board for 2 weeks now. You have you front foot too far back and probably you back foot too far forward Tha is why it is loosing speed and bogging. Same thing happened to me on the first few waves, this board wants to be surfed with the back foot right against the back of the deck pad where you can use the slight hip it has on its tail and the front foot a little bit further then the wide point. I got a 5'7 red tiger and I think I surf it with a little bit wider stance then my 5'9 ghost. I still haven't decided if I want to keep it or not cause waves for the last couple of weeks here in Portugal have been pretty good, shoulder high, powerful, glassy, not the type of conditions I got the red tiger for... If I wasn't trying to test the RT I would've probably been riding my ghost so that says a lot about the waves here lately. Hope I helped anyone that came here feeling the same way I do about the red tiger and trying to understand the how to surf it 🤙🏽

Is this more of an everday driver but for waves at the smaller end of the "everyday" type conditions but not so small for a Phantom? Dont understand where this fits in a quiver.
@TheSurfersJourney16 күн бұрын
I would say everyday, 2 to 4 foot decent quality waves. I haven't surfed it in anything much bigger, so I can't comment on the upper end. Smaller end is okay, with shape and some wave quality.

Great review mate, have you ridden the Pyzalian 2. Lots of people trying to compare these boards. I love mine but I wish it was a squash tail. red tiger looks fun and loose.
@tiagocarvalho9832 ай бұрын
Hello, I'm going to buy a Pyzelien 2. Why did you regret not buying it with a squash tail?
@peterhurley79312 ай бұрын
@@tiagocarvalho983 Hi Tiago. I had the original Pyzalian for a long time. I loved this board and it had a squash tail. It was a great allrounder but topped out at 5' mark. got a bit squirrely on big bottom turns. Saying that I'm no power surfer so I really enjoyed the free tail slide on the topturns for everyday waves. Now I have the Pyzalian 2 and it is a massive improvement on the original..I love this board too. it's way more refined, lively and snappy and paddles easy. it will go in some really small ordinary waves but I feel it come alive in punchy 3' plus and has a better top end than the original. don't get me wrong but for me I feel it's just got to be surfed more aggressively in the turns and on rail to release its full potential and is best attributes. this is something I got to work on myself. I guess that's a good thing and testament to what a great shaper Jon Pyzel is.
@tiagocarvalho9832 ай бұрын
@@peterhurley7931 Thank you for your response. I'm also not a power surfer, I'm more of a roundhouse surfer. This will be my first Pyzel. I've been riding a lot with firewire, they're good boards but I think they have a lot of fluctuation and sometimes I can't bury the rails well. Another board that i have looking is the Chilli Black Vulture 2 i think is less performance than the Pyzelien.

You won’t go wrong with a pyzel. Best board I’ve had so far👍

No I have not, but the RT is insane mate, if you are thinking about it, do it!

Nice review. JJF’s version of small or junky surf must be my good surf lol cuz this red tiger definitely looks like it needs proper surf at least chest high to work. Doesn’t seem like a good sloppy fat beach break board.
@TheSurfersJourney7 ай бұрын
Yes, I think you could definitely do better for sloppy fat beachies.
