Saga can learn both Swedish and English at the same time. I remember a experiment done years ago where they read to babies in 7 diff langs everyday. When they spoke they were able to speak all 7 languages.

Yess!! I'm a social worker and I work in education, the most important part about raising bilingual kids is to have the languages associated to one specific primary care taker, so one person only speaks English to the kid and the other one only swedish. It may take a little longer for them to start speaking in general but that is nothing to be worried about! :)

Exactly. I speak 3 mother tongues and understand 3 more and it’s just like knowing different colors, I don’t think there is a real limit to it

My mum's Danish and my dad's English. Growing up I lived both places but spent most of my childhood in Denmark. My dad became fluent in Danish through lessons and by speaking Danish to my mum. Still to this day they never speak English to eachother. With my brother and I however, my dad would only speak in English to us. That's how we became bilingual. It's funny because it's just so natural for the four of us to have a conversation, let's say at the dinner table, and speak both English and Danish. We will be discussing something and one will speak English while the other responds in Danish. I don't even really notice it but friends and family always laugh at us. Thought I'd share as it could be you one day 🙂

I'm the exact same! My dad is Danish, mom is Canadian, and I was raised pretty half-and-half between Denmark and Canada, and we also spoke both languages in the home. Currently I live in Denmark with my danish partner, and we're expecting our first child. I'm hoping to raise her bilingually, as it has been such a gift to me :)

The pregnancy, birth of Saga and new parent phase is such a huge part of your collective stories. It’s overwhelming for me to even imagine you having another baby at this point, and yet, people do it all of the time the world over. What will be, will be. My son looks nothing like me...However, he mirrors my mind. As an infant he very rarely cried because I was so tuned into his needs, routines and moods. As a teen, we are closer than close and can read each others thoughts. Having a "mini me" physically does not compare to having one mentally.

Age gaps is a conversation you should have. I have ones that are 2 years apart, and ones that are 9 years apart. There so different but the 2 years apart are so much closer to each other. I think especially with a farm having Saga with a close age gap to a sibling would be wonderful to see them run around and play. I have 4 kids, so having 2 and 2 that are close in age you see it in there play. It’s tough In The beginning having them so close in age but when they get older, the fun they have together is priceless.

Beautiful video - and Maya, Saga totally looks like you! (as well as looking like Max, of course.) I've had the same experience - I'm mixed (b&w) and my daughter's father is white. So when she was little she was WHIIIITE!!! She's still quite light skinned but we look so alike and she is very visibly a mixed-heritage person of African descent. I admire you so much for saying it hurts your ego - such a healthy attitude to take to it rather than sweeping the issue under the carpet like I did early on. Sending multi-ethic hugs - we da future baby! 🙋🏾 💟

Idk how your baby looks like but white is not just ed sheeran white lol, many white ppl have darker skin tones (idk in us), if you're mixed with white and her dad is white she is/will look mostly white and should embrace what she is, I hope you're not like many other black and mixed women in US that have kids with non black man and even when the kid looks practically white they look for any little think in them,(like curly hair and olive skin tone, that also many whites have) to make them embrace more what they have less in,that's only gonna confuse them/create self hate and it's also not beneficial for black ppl. ✌🏽

Alot of people have a misconception that homeschooled children don't socailize well. But from my persepctive (a former homeschooled child) and me seeing homeschooled children, homeschoolers actually socialize BETTER and more mature because they're around adults alot (parents, family, adults in society). Alot of public schooled kids have social anxiety because they're just thrown into school and shocked into social life rather than socializing organically in a safe setting. My Dad also made us go outside everyday and it definitely helps to get the kids off the electronics and into appreciating nature and the calming benefits thereof.

It's been really great watching your journey and seeing how you guys communicate coming from two different cultures. My husband and I are from different cultures, both artists, and spend a lot of time with each other. We also live in a studio apartment which has been so rough recently, so we've found a routine to help us both get out of the house and have solo work time. It was helpful to hear that you also had a moment where you're like "oh we need space". I don't have many friends that can relate to my situation so I'm so glad you're being open with some of the struggles. Again thanks for sharing 💕

It is a challenging experience, particularly for a mother. I came across several mothers of colour who shared stories when they were quizzed about their baby by strangers. People tend to be quite tactless and though it may seem trivial, these sort of comments can get under one's skin. I think that if a child looks different it is particularly important to teach them visual differences are normal and mixed race family is no worse than others. It may seem trivial but the society can sometimes be really backwards about this and then you may start to doubt yourself as a parent. For the record, I have a tan skin tone and my mother is white.

@@GenXBecks well in US most of yall are very mixed down the line. ik MANY black african families and the differences between family members are not that many, for example I've never seen a black family have a light and a brown/dark skin kid or cousin, unless they have it with a non black person.& any black person ik that has a light/mixed looking baby, had it with a mixed, asian or white person.ik in africa there are mixed ppl/couples too and many africans are also mixed down the line but they don't do it as much as America or other places. The most diverse families ik are latin american ones but when you see their parents and granparents at least one side has white and native members or is a mix of all..mixed ppl create other mixed ppl whatever race they have kids with

💕 Hello! Maya, my daughter and I met you yrs ago (she looked like your twin when your hair was short). I wanted to add that regarding education there is also the option of public and private school online. Here they have the option of having a teacher(s), state approved curriculum and the support of traditional school. Our kids are in front of screens in school most of the day, this option actually cuts that down (2-3hours a day max). With online, you can actually filter what they are learnings and be a support without the pressure of creating a system. These schools also have weekly/monthly meet ups where they do things together and make in person connections. I believe this is also a balance for some who want to be involved but not totally responsible. Let's not forget it's mobile so they don't miss school and can still travel. 🌺

@@prettyj7701 I've been living here for 4 years now and it is better. No country is perfect, but here there are many measures taken that consider quality of living-- i.e., health care, gun laws, etc. The covid measures (for example) are a lot, but seeing how the virus has affected the US, especially Black people in the US, I am fine with these measures set in place. It's a bit ridiculous to shame a country for trying to protect people.

We choose a school for our children that is a very social school. It follows the Jena plan system of education. 3 years are in the same class working together. Older help younger kids. I talked with adults I know that did this school and they are wonderful people. For subjects like math you can always use khan academy at home too. And life has sooo many opportunities to teach children skills and knowledge. It just takes more time to do things with kids while teaching them .

You both are doing great things together, and apart, and you are super blessed to have found your soulmate! FYI: Girls usually look like their father and boys like their mother. Therefore, Maya, if you want a child who looks like you, you and Max will need to get pregnant again and birth a boy!! 🥰😉

I love your videos and learning about your growth, experiences, and personal stories. We love Boss Lady Saga. I look forward to Max speaking in Swedish to Maya. Also, how are you guys are introducing Swedish to Saga? Maybe that could be another video.

@@MaxMayaLiving That is phenomenal, Max! Personally, I have struggled with learning a new language. Yet, I know how important and valuable it is to have someone to speak and practice with. I am so excited and looking forward to a progress update video from Maya (maybe she will post it on her personal channel). 😊

The value of teaching math is it gives them a foundation for abstract thinking in the future - as well as a foundation for a math-heavy field if that is what they choose to explore later in life! However, I do think that many math courses are taught formulaically instead of focusing on building abstract thinking. I'm a former math teacher, and I remember being shocked to see that students were going through the motions of, for example, adding or subtracting fractions, without understanding *why* they were taking the steps they were taking. I also agree it's important to translate that math to everyday use. Much love from Norway!

Start traveling again. Little miss Saga will become a good traveler if you keep exposing her to it...it would be such a great time to travel with her if we weren't in a pandemic. What a cute baby...I.can see both of you in her

Oh yesss! I love that you took the gloves off for Canada haha XD I'm in Quebec and I'm so tired of what our country is doing. I have hope that things will change soon. I think most of us are tired. BUT I love your views about having a base. Thanks for sharing with us!

Hey, I was considering emigrating from the US to Canada and was wondering what you meant when you said you were tired of what Canada was doing? Is that in regards to racism with poc and black people or it is more in regards to how the country is handling the COVID pandemic like are they mandating vaccines or making it mandatory to stay inside or something? Any information would help as the moving process is a lot of work.😄

@@prettyj7701 Hey :) Currently really regarding how our country is handling the pandemic, yes. Especially in the last few months. There are a few differences in each province, but overall it's been a bit rough and quite different compared to other countries. All of this is based on my perception on things. I have no idea what Maya was referring to in the video :)

I find it interesting that you say no to Cananda but yes to the US? Why is that? Isn’t Canada safer?

ur skintone is GORGEOUS! i also understand having a baby that looks NOTHING like me...my oldest is my twin and my youngest looks just like her daddy, ...i actually had the nurse ask me immediately after giving birth, "how does it feel to give birth to a child that looks nothing like u"??? -i was so offended and just taken back by that comment...but it is true lol...my husband says she looks like him but she has a LOT of me in her personality and she is so gorgeous i wouldnt want her any differently!

Im a bw and my mom is dark skinned. While my siblings have bit more of our moms features, im a female copy of my dad from his lighter skintone, facial features to hair. 😂 I feel like while Saga might have Maxs coloring, her features seem to resemble Maya. But shes still so small its hard to tell. 😂
