I’m currently a student in college studying nutrition and dietetics. My goal is to be a sports dietician for an nfl team .I’ve been doing some research on physical therapy and I think I might double major in dietetics and physical therapy. Do you think nutrition and physical therapy will do me any good in the future? Like is nutrition a huge part in your work?
@ThePrehabGuys
@ThePrehabGuys 4 жыл бұрын
Not much especially as you work with higher level athletes. They end up having their own dietician. But I talk about basic nutrition to a large % of my patients.

hmm good question. not exactly sure, I guess it would depend on the role you have within the organization - I would say AT is not always needed.

A lot of pre-PT undergrad majors are kinesiology, exercise science, or something around that sort. But you don’t need to major in one of those to apply for DPT grad programs. I’ve found (for my hs to undergrad experience at least) most prerequisites in hs don’t directly help unless you take the AP and score well enough. The prerequisites in hs really just make sure that you don’t go into the basic undergrad stem classes (general chem, general bio, anatomy and physiology) with no previous knowledge.

If you really know it’s what you want to do try to see try to shadow a pt first then see if there’s a 3+3 or 4+3 program at colleges near you. With those programs you have guaranteed entry into the graduate dpt programs as long as you complete your undergrad prerequisite requirements.
