It’s quite strange that the resignation was accepted in Feb 2023, but TCJ continued to be speaker of parliament many times since Feb. So his actions were unacceptable, yet he could continue as the speaker of parliament and only properly resigned after the hot mic incident? Feels like the story doesn’t add up somehow.

Such extramarital affairs if caught during olden days, according to the (China) Chinese parliament, such couple accused of adultery will be beheaded together. I would suggest one of the proposition parties to initiate or table a discussion in parliament on passing a new bill to legislate such (any sexual misconducts, adultery, or any actions or intentions that may lead to such) behaviours found in ministers to be punishable by laws. They gained our trust hence we voted them and I the end they lost their self control and commited such action, it will deem as a crime and will be punished by Law. Agree?

I think this is the right way to deal with such matters. Upfront. Direct. No need for us to throw stones after someone who has fallen into a well or try to score a few political points by disparaging the party. We hope the people involved will work to restore their family relationships. We wish them well. The govt certainly has to address concerns of the public and we can see PM doing that personally. The system should be strong enough to withstand the temporary shock of losing a few people.

Since then, why weren't there some kind of disciplinary measures put in place seeing that such matter might occur again? If indeed there were, then would this extra-marital affair have continued for so long?

I think it is disappointing but forgivable as appropriate action is taken. PM Lee has been very tied up with Covid fighting, regaining normacy and managing international scene for Asia peace. To me, I think our PM has done the right thing. As a leader, he besides being responsible for well being of people and the country as a whole he also must have empathy for his team members, and the community; a kind hearted person so to speak and, at the same time, rigorously uphold code of conduct or rule law. PM chose to counsel them hoping both of them could discontinue their inappropriate relationship. The problem was that their emotion got better of them. So they have to go. It's not the PM who actually made the decision, it's an application of rules, the code of conduct said so. PM had to ensure the system work, it must work, otherwise the institutions will collapse. Those who give negative comments are meant to tarnish the reputation of PAP government. Especially people like Kristen Han who hates the government to the core. She advocates that foreigners should run the country for simple reason that her husband is an Angmo. Not sure both of them have broken up or not.

In political clean government not all so clean after all. But luckily Singaporeans have good top leaders like pm Lee sien loong and his deputies to look after Singapore.
