"In an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s seminal novel The Price of Salt, CAROL follows two women from very different backgrounds who find themselves in an unexpected love affair in 1950s New York. As conventional norms of the time challenge their undeniable attraction, an honest story emerges to reveal the resilience of the heart in the face of change.
A young woman in her 20s, Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara), is a clerk working in a Manhattan department store and dreaming of a more fulfilling life when she meets Carol (Cate Blanchett), an alluring woman trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage. I love this interview. Rooney is so special. Her performances are powerful. She's so intense on screen, as well as off screen. She makes one yearn to know more about the beauty and talent that abounds through her.

Rooney was so excited to be picked for this movie.Did you see the Girl with dragon tattoo? Glad she got picked for Carol. . Might have saved her with some dignity left.

I'm glad Mara got so much deserved acclaim for this movie. I wish she had gotten some awards love for her work in Ain't Them Bodies Saints.

The Price of Salt! What an interesting title! I understand the title is about Lot's wife being turned into a Pillar of salt because she looked back at the city of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. Very interesting title just the same.

I couldn't care less about gay stuff but Carol was a great moment in cinema. Mara's Therese was absolutely mesmerizing. The movie is incredible looking, sorry to hear the film lab in NY closed. If the format of actual film is on the way out, we'll be losing something special. But that's "progress".
