PMDG 737 is a high quality product but I don't think it deserves the no. 1 spot.. They didn't even simulate the C/B panels. I used to be a PMDG fan but I stopped purchasing their products since I had bought a 777 for P3D. By the way, thanks for high quality videos for the community. I really appreciate it.

Im kinda disapointed as well with PMDG. I mean if you look closely to the Exterior and interior of the plane, it's not a high fidelity airplane...

I can't speak to the performance, but based on the cockpits, I'd say the Fenix looks a lot better than the PMDG. The Fenix looked like a photograph of a real A320 to me, while the PMDG cockpit seemed very much rendered and a bit too too clean to feel real.

to compare is one thing, but sometimes comparisons is futile because we are dealing wih simmers that could not accurately describe anything more than a heap of sand i agree with your list. pmdg at the top of your list makes sense. great aircraft with a company with a proud lineage fenix is a brand new dev with only one variant so to suddenly make it nr 1 shows that some simmers goes more on interpretation and fact a lot of simmers "pardons" fenix for issued while they crucify pmdg for the same class of issues / bugs. to see how devs like pmdg and fslabs suddenly degregated to third class developers by simmers shows clearly that a large group of simmers should be the last group of users commenting on "reality" and sim addons great video as always

PMDG has always been overrated. At this moment A320 Fenix should definitely be the winner.

the 320 hardly works though the 37 at least gets off the ground with a flight plan. 20 years of simming ive never had such massive problems with an aircraft like i do the 320

Quite a nice list of aircraft. #1 and 2 were bound to be controversial. After having watched V1Simulations go through all those failures in his recent Fenix streams, it seems that the Fenix is very deeply simulated. Both these aircraft are so good, I don’t see how us mere simmers would be able to determine depth of “depth of simulations” to be honest. Seems like we have reached a point now where you need to be type rated to legitimately know for sure, and that is a great thing for us.

really? the 37 has worked beautifully for me while the 320 has been nothing but endless problems. 15 hours in i have yet to even get the fmc working properly to get it off the ground

I don't see how the 737 could possibly beat out the Fenix A320 considering how many features it's missing, and the price, but interesting video.

While this remains extremely subjective (this is what I think), the PMDG 737 depth of systems simulation is unmatched by the Fenix. It is not as user friendly, but far deeper in systems simulations without a doubt.

@@francescorusso24 just the fact that no cb are working on the PMDG while 280+ are on the Fenix I'd say the depth of systems is immensely superior in the Fenix + EFB which makes it much more enjoyable to fly than the PMDG for now. The number failuresis also greater in the Fenix iirc but that's just my opinion

After careful consideration, the PMDG has earned its number 1 spot. The Fenix A320 is excellent and only second to the PMDG 737.

Definitely agree that the 737 is no. 1. I have and fly both, the Fenix is outstanding, however, it lacks time compression, a must have as an option when flying multi hour long flights. Pmdg has mastered this in a very complex package, a feat that I am sure is technically difficult. The Fenix has no such option and it appears, from what I can tell, beyond their ability at this point. They had a 2x and then took it out due to instability, PMDG has a brilliant auto cruise that cycles up to 16x.

The Fenix package is much better than the PMDG 737. Since the Fenix release, I have flown it 40 times. The 737 is collecting dust. That is how I measure a plane.

ive found the complete opposite the 320 hasnt even made it airborne because its so cumbersome. the fmc is a complete mess auto pilot functionality is falling apart its been a disaster

Terrific list. 1 and 2 probably should have been a tie. I couldn't give an unambiguous number one to the Fenix with some of its performance issues, and couldn't give an unambiguous number one to the PMDG without an EFB or Simbrief integration.

For me, the 737 is the best choice because of my Honeycomb controls which have replica levers for Boeing, whereas I'd have to make a separate purchase of Airbus controls to get the same sense of immersion. As for an EFB, it's coming for the 737, and I own Sim EFB anyway, so it's such a minor difference. The FMC in the 737 already includes most EFB config functions anyway. I also prefer the plethora of toggle switches to the push buttons in the A320, and flying an airliner with a joystick doesn't feel right to me. Just my personal preference. I'll likely purchase the Fenix A320 at some point. I also own the Cessna 310 (so much fun!) and just got the Kodiak, also great fun.

I have most of these aircraft and agree with most of your evaluations. However, I believe the Fenix outshines the PMDG 737 at present due to the missing areas of the simulation, I.e., no EFB and no weather simulation. The Phoenix does such a good job of providing in cockpit functionality with the EFB that it is fully immersive for VR. Maybe once PMDG provide a completed product, it will outshine the A320. For now, my award goes to the Fenix A320.

i had to go with the 37 only because the FMC in the 37 is so much more simple to operate its been nothing but a nightmare to try and get the 320 off the ground

@@tracemitchell2093 Yes - the two FMC's are a little different. A320 is a piece of cake once you learn how to use it properly. Same with the FCU/AP which some 737 users struggle with - Managed vs Selected modes, detents vs moving throttles etc. Once you become familiar with the Airbus you will see it is a far more efficient way to fly an airliner.

Very interesting you placed the PMDG above the Fenix - which every reviewer I have watched have clearly stated the A320 is much better than the 737 and is now the benchmark for sim aircraft. Having flown both of them myself I can easily say the Fenix is far better than the PMDG. 'Depth of system simulation' - I think you may be very very mistaken on that point alone my friend, and the modelling of both cockpit and cabin is far superior in the Fenix. By all means you are entitled to your opinion....I mean hey even Amber Turd is getting 1% voting for her in the latest trial support poles... :)

@@JustAnOrdinarySimmer Interesting...having worked as an a/c design engineer at Airbus I can absolutely assure you one of the main design criteria for our passenger liners is to be exciting to fly, you know really keep you on your toes flying it while always giving you the feeling you are just moments away from imminent death! XD Very simply put, if you don't appreciate operating a passenger airliner as safely and efficiently as possible, then by all means go fly something else.

Quite surprising to see the 737 in the #1 spot considering what you said in your review of the Fenix ("It is far better than PMDG in all departments" - to quote your own words). I have to wonder what changed since 23/05 when your review was posted to change your opinion so drastically. As for the "depth of systems simulation" - does the PMDG have working circuit breakers yet? Because Fenix has like 280 of them. All working as you would expect.

PMDG built from scratch Fenix built on pro sim platform. PMDG within sim Fenix outside sim. EFB doesn't airplane make. Don't get me wrong I'd still take zibo over PMDG 37 and Fenix is now my go to plane for 320 with flight factor off my hard drive for good but out of what's available in MSFS. PMDG is a best all rounder that hits all notes.

@@TheKuritsa Work smarter, not harder. PMDG made the decision to develop this way and now they have to own it. Blaming every single thing wrong on Asobo just doesn't work anymore, especially when other developers just make their own workarounds instead of moaning and complaining. There is nothing that PMDG does, that Fenix doesn't do better - just so happens it's the overwhelming opinion of the majority of the flightsim community in multiple places where this topic is discussed (including Q8Pilot if you watched his Fenix review!). Simply put, PMDG is quite clearly on the decline and I still don't see how they can claim the #1 spot, especially considering their condescending and arrogant attitude toward their customers.

I appreciate the video. What is your opinion on the CRJ series? I read that there were some growing pains as one of the first payware aircraft for MSFS. In your opinion, has Aerosoft put in enough work on it to earn its way to at least your "Honorable Mention" list?

Yes it is a reasonably well made aircraft. Not good enough for a position in the top 10 line up, but is a good aircraft nonetheless.

PMDG over Fenix with no EFB and no working circuit breakers? Than you gave a review of the 737 with a score of a 9/10 and did a review of the Fenix A320 with a 10/10 sounds like you are contradicting yourself putting PMDG at #1. I have no problem with the list PMDG can do and should of done better than what they did with their first release in MSFS. I could argue that the Maddog could be #2 behind Fenix if they had a better sound and texture pack and of coarse 20 USD cheaper.

@@Q8Pilot Good for you but as a long time flight simmer I find PMDG lacking and is not #1 in MSFS at the moment Lacking LVAN that is ancient from 2006 FSX etc and VNAV is iffy. Is it any better than the Zibo in X-Plane.? Sounds like MSFS is lacking behind in your standards.

PMDG vs Fenix - totally agree. Better FPS of PMDG trumps any perceived advantages of the Fenix, at least on my system. PMDG will be adding features. I'm glad they released this now, even though not all features were ready on release.

The list is good, but I do have to say, I miss the crj's here. They're obviously not as good as the Fenix or the pmdg but I would personally put them on to 5th to 6th place.

As a fan of Boeings in general, I have to say the Fenix A320 beat out the PMDG 737 in my opinion. It actually released as a complete product, basically bug-free, feature-rich, and the PMDG has yet to release so much as a patch for an incomplete product which has a lot of bugs and minimal features. I have both of these aircraft, and I don't believe the PMDG deserves to be even above the Leonardo MD80 (also own that). The PMDG 737 needs to mature a lot, and it's going to take a long time to do that. Putting it - an early-access release - above two complete addons which have already seen post-release support and have many more features seems a bit ridiculous to me.

Not sure how Fenix is 2nd to PMDG, but rest of the modues seem fairly rated, although judging by my fairly limited knowledge of them

Fenix is in 2nd place that's an excellent position considering the criteria. The performance, lack of compatibility with some third party addons, and support are the main reasons it didn't make it to position number 1.

New to your channel, so maybe this question is silly, but still - why no Spitfire or Corsair? They both compete with the best of the best for MSFS and are tons of fun to fly.

With PMDG, I really liked the Jetstream 4100 for fsx…except for visual artifacts and ctds…but that I think has more to do with the mediocre system I had. I wish they would bring it back or even a Saab 340

Top 5 should have been: Flysimware Cessna 414, PDMG DC-6, JustFlight Bae 146, PMDG 737-700- and the Fenix A320 at number one. the Maddog is far too expensive considering the bad graphics and sounds, the 310 flight model is far worse than the 414. The Fenix is just the best product of them all simulation wise and price/value

There seems to be much bewilderment here about your pick of the PMDG over the Fenix, especially given your own prior assessment. Would you mind offering your faithful following some specific ways this conclusion was reached, quantified? I think we're all a bit puzzled.

After reassessment, it was a close call, but PMDG has earned position number 1.

I was also puzzled. I have much respect and trust for q8pilot but this time I have to respectfully disagree with PMDG at #1 but as stated in the video it is at the end of the day his personal opinion and a healthy disagreement is always good as long as it is respectful..

@@fulatoro All opinions are respected and everyone is entitled to their own. It is important to understand that I look at aspects like custoner support, documentation, compatibility with other addons, performance in addition to the criteria mentioned. I also create support tickets to see how customer support responds. All in all, I am very happy with both hence positions 1 and 2, but PMDG has won by a slight margin.

@@Q8Pilot it will be interesting to reassess after a few months once both addons have been updated. I am particularly looking forward to the PMDG improved cabin textures, EFB and improved LNAV/VNAV. Fenix in all fairness is a new developer with much less experience than PMDG. What they have achieved is outstanding. On the other hand I think people were expecting more from PMDG who had a headstart having done a 737 for both FSX and P3D. To release the 737 with no tablet is simply inexcusable. To reuse textures in some areas of the plane from P3D is also disappointing. Contrast that with the outstanding texturing job done by fenix and you can begin to see why some of us are a hit peeved( don’t get me started on the Maddog).

@@fulatoro All valid points for sure. The Maddox textures is not the strongest point, but the simulation is outstanding by account of real world pilots. Overall, I think I am very convinced with both the selection and rankings I have made in this video.

The PMDG offers much more in terms of systems simulation and much better in terms optimization as a software piece. Also, it has ground equipment for the full experience. The Fenix is absolutely great but PMDG is better.

Well it was always gonna be a controversial pick for #1... PMDG has incredible performance and systems, but is in dire need of a good EFB and better simbrief integration. Stuff that makes simmers life easier.

@@tracemitchell2093 Haha I wouldn't go that far. The last update also increase performance by a-lot, mostly by scaling down interior textures and optimizing CPU.

A month on and no more performance improvements for the Fenix so I’d say PMDG is warranted #1 especially if flying VR. And remember …. Once you’ve flown in VR … you will never look back … but you can if you want to! 😂

@@Q8Pilot i just don’t understand why you think that. i’d love if you could explain why you actually think what you do, since you have a pretty big influence :). i have both airplanes and the fenix has better system realism than the pmdg. the modeling is just objectively faaar superior. i mean, pmdgs cabin is from fsx days. fenix cabin is incredibly realistic. i do respect your opinions, but only if you are able to back them up past “that’s just what i think”. i’m not trying to be provocative, just want to hear what you think.

@@blindsight_music_ I will try to make a video on this, but PMDG has better overall performance, better compatibility with 3rd parry addon, comes with full ground handling, has better sounds, and built from the ground up for the sim.

@@Q8Pilot ok, i do see where you’re coming from. i still think the 737 is no match for the Fenix, but i guess we value different things. i think the sounds the a320 are superior, but again i guess we value different things in the sound pack. but i have a problem with you stating the modeling and systems are better in the 737, when it’s objectively not the case.

Leonardo MD82 number 3? What a joke of a plane. Bad textures, sound and crazy price. Fenix A320 is number one on my list with PMDG737 as number two. Q8 needs to get real about the Leonardo MD82 port from P3D. Put it on your P3D list.

youre just wrong, fenix is number 1. You mention texturing and modelling, yet fenix is better in both departments the level of detail in the fenix cockpit texturing is just mind blowing and something we haven't seen before in any flight simulation, then we move to the cabin, have you even seen what pmdgs cabin looks like? fenixs cabin is much more detailed. the fenix also comes with a efb while pmdg doesn't. Next lets speak system depth, again fenix blows pmdg out of the room. i just don't understand how you said pmdg was number 1. you clearly don't know what you're talking about and also fenix comes with over 100 liveries boths in 4k and 8k textures. very biased review, or should I say how much is pmdg paying you?
