I really want them to make history journals like they have with science. I don’t like to do all of printing and binding.

Abeka is teacher-intensive & not AT ALL open & go. It is also 170 lessons instead of 120, and my kids HATED it. Finding The Good & The Beautiful absolutely changed our homeschool. We still use Abeka for Math for my rising high schooler, and for my rising 3rd grader. My rising 1st grader just wasnt a fan, so we'll be using The Good & The Beautiful for Math for him this year. The approach to Science is just the best in TGTB, whereas with Abeka its repetitive, memorization, and fun-sucking. Abeka's Language is absolutely fantastic, including God in every single aspect, and the rich theology incorporated in their Language makes my heart happy. However, it's A LOT. My children were overwhelmed & in tears most days. They get excited to do TGTB Language & absolutely love it. And we make sure to incorporate Bible in other subjects, so my children definitely still get a theologically rich education, but just without the tears. And it's easier for me, which is a bonus because I have toddler running everywhere. 😂

We used Abeka for the first few years of homeschool when I only had 2 kids of school age. Once it dawned on me that soon I’d have 4 kids doing school, I realized I wanted more family subjects and less individual subjects. We have been loving TGATB the past 3 years. No beef with the former though. ❤️

I totally agree about spelling. My special needs son started the new math 3 today. Oh my goodness he absolutely loves it. And loves the videos. This is a true blessing to us.

I was resistant to use TGATB, but as we’ve switched a lot of our curriculum to them - we love it!! I use the free downloads when possible, and print at home. We haven’t sprung for extras or any books yet, but will over time.

We drag out the science units quite a bit. We do science twice a week & go one lesson at a time. The first day of a new lesson we do the reading, then next science day we dig deeper into whatever the lesson was about. The reptiles unit is what we’re on now & we actually started it during the last quarter of our last school year & have been in our new year for about a month and a half and we still have about 5 lessons to go. We flew through the water and our world unit because we weren’t all that interested in the content 🤷‍♀️ You can really take as much, or as little time on each unit as you want. I love your Q&A’s! ❤️

My son is highly advanced in Math and we love good and the beautiful because he flies through the stuff he knows and can stop when we need to review He is already on level 6 and also does math pedagogue as well with some old college books we have. Thanks for the video SO helpful.

We use TGATB for LA and math. I like that they are independent except the ladder sentences. I like the looks of some aspects of the science but have not bought them or history because of the parent instructions. I’d have to stop and decipher directions to myself and read, do, etc. I feel unprepared and my son has to wait while I figure it out. I don’t want to prep read ahead of time or do the “Read to the children”. I read to my son for over an hour a day, but I prefer curriculum directed to the child as much as possible. We use Sonlight because my son can read the assigned pages himself and do the worksheets without my help. Maybe I’ll try the Marine Biology and see how it goes though.

Do you feel the new Science is simpler than the old? Wording/ content? I bought all the old the day before the new was released and struggling with the decision to use what we have or take the hit financially and purchase the new. I just want to say thank you for all your videos. I was new to homeschooling last year and extremely overwhelmed. You where one of the first channels I started following. I was really torn about trying TGTB and hearing your feedback encouraged me. It has truly been a blessing for us.

I grabbed History Year 2 for this year so I wouldn’t miss out. But now I’m wondering if I should buy years 3 and 4 too?? I know they haven’t announced a release date, but I assume years 1 and 2 will be first and it’s probably not likely that all 4 will be available by next fall. Hmm…

That's what I'm struggling with too! I haven't bought any levels yet, but really want to use it. Worried that if I buy the first year now they'll be sold out of the others when I need them. Yet buying all 4 levels at once would be expensive...🙄🤷🏻‍♀️

AP tests are based off AP classes. TGATB will prepare to an extent but to pass an AP tests and earn the credit you must write in the AP approved style which almost no high school does. I took AP classes in high school and don’t support them in any way. Go for honors classes. You student will achieve better results with the same level of effort and more colleges view honors as “advanced” vs AP.

Ashlee, can you link your phone case? That’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! A case with a soft finger thing. I love your videos. It’s a loopy case. I would highly suggest getting a color that already has darker edges… Loopy is notorious for looking dirty and grungy after a while on the outside edges.

I love that phone case and I know I am very very late here - but does anyone know what color that is? Is it Sage? It looks more seafoam-y and I absolutely love it! Can't seem to find anything close to it online - at least for my phone. :(

All the PDFs are exactly like the printed version so for example if you were talking about the history pdf, the printed history doesn’t have color either.
