Hi ya Jim, this was a great video and one which has helped me at lot in finally getting down to what might be causing the horrible exhaust smell I've been getting in the cabin of my Renault Scenic Dci . Oddly, mine also throws up that the "stop start" needs checking. Been to three garages and one of them were able to diagnose what was going on, one even said there was nothing wrong another charged me £700 for something which had nothing to do with the system!!! Nightmare! At least now I have something of an educated guess as to what's going on when I next trust a garage / mechanic. Thank you. 😎👍

Great video Jim, the cable trick did the job for me, cleared the pipe and its still clear, but still got the fault again after a week, I am replacing the sensor in the hope that that cures it.

My tube was nearly blocked . Thank you for this video i cleanded it your way and did the paper test . It was ok :-)

Hi. If Nissan know this is an issue why use a cheap design and a poor location to sight the pipe. If it wasn't for guys like Jim we would be stuck and Nissan Corp would be even richer. Great fix Jim and very honest commenting where you mentioned you snapped the pipe must say I've made a few howlers fixing my own cars in the past. But just to say a big thanks for fix will be trying the cable fix tomorrow.

Really informative. Just had my DPF deep cleaned and the pressure sensor pipe cleared (last week) but I am getting the fault again and I suspect its the pipe not the filter. Top tips thank you.

Remember no damage will be caused by ignoring this problem i will do a new video the weekend outlining all the pros and cons with regards this issue cheers

Had same problem with our renault captur but i managed to unblock with the cable then cleaned out with egr cleaner. But to change pipe its a lot of work.. Cheers

Hi guys Thanks for all your comments. A lot of your questions are similar. To remove the pipe from the manifold is next to impossible without braking it. A main dealer will charge you 200 quid to replace its probably because they remove the whole unit. You could use a pipe sweller kit instead of a 6mm socket.

Hi Jim some of these jobs are a bit of a pain in the butt , recently I had two of these cars in the workshop recently for the same problem as you , but the ones I got had been molested before i got them all the rest you understand , I had to remove Subframes DPF Turbo and manifolds to do the job properly , on both had to drill & re thread the Manifolds on both also had to replace the upstream temperature sensors these also had to be drilled out and rethreaded an tough job enough cause you cannot afford to damage the manifold and keep every thing original spec I don't believe in heli coils they can undue over time , so I also got the DPFs cleaned while doing the process and make sure everything worked properly so all done and every body happy

Hi. Bought replacement pipe with sensor for my car as its blocked halfway through aswell. What size of spanner is on that manifold end? Thanks . also i was thinking if i cut the pipe after that blockage and then maybe connect other end with same size but with vacuum silicone hose/pipe instead?

Jim - I have my Stop/Start mechanism starting in mid-drive when driving on a longer trip and usually when going a bit uphill for a while. The in the midst of driving on the motorway the Stop/Start mechanism happens in the middle of driving and the car goes into emergency mode and shows a Stop/Start System fault, whereas the car won't drive and acceleration is impossible. So when I stop the car on the side, switch it off and then restart - the card drives normally for a hile, but it will happen again and again. Once the car is parked anc cools down and when we drive again the problem may not happen again for even months, but it always comes back and mainly when driving long and uphill...could this be connected? BORIS

As I have the same issue with my Duster 1.5dci I ask myself if it is possible to blow this tight pipe with high pressure compressed air. What do you think would it free the pipe ? Or does it damage turbo or something else ?

I kept going with the bike brake cable and was successful but it did take over an hour. The other thing I did was not to use the brake cable outer but to cut the brake cable into 1 inch longer lengths changing them as I got to the rubber pipe with the drill chuck

Could you replace the steel pipe with a longer piece of the rubber pipe which is at the top where the sensor is fitted.

Hi Jim, thank you very much for this. I don't usually post comments on KZfaq but I have to on this occassion. I have a mate with a Vito 111 which I believe has a similar engine (the Mercedes code is OM622, which if you Wiki directs you to the Renault R9M). Anyway, my mate's Vito has had the exhaust back pressure code for over a year. Local garage doesn't want anything to do with the fix and sent my mate to MB themselves for diagnosis and repairs. Thanks to your video and the engine diagram, I now know where to look for for this sensor and its pipework. Cheers.

Hi Jim thanks for the brilliant post, I have got the same problem with all the fault lights on so going to try doing this. I have ordered brake cable to try that has I saw your other video yesterday and now just noticed this one. What is the pipe called and will it cause damage diving the car with that pipe blocked. I do 60 miles a day to work and can't have look at it till weekend. Where does the pipe go and anything else you could pour down to clear it instead of petrol. Thanks

Jim, maybe I am missing something here, but could you not have used a length of the same kind of reinorced rubber hose that is used to join the metal pipe to the sensor? John.

I have a Nissan Juke 1.5 DCI 50.000km and starting the same problem with Exhaust Pressure Sensor fault. I already tried to "clean" the tube but it doesn't work. I'm getting crazy. I want try take off the metal tube and clean it as well. I saw the pieces parts are all the same likes your Qashqa. I wanna ask how did you to take off that little metal tube? I can't find any space to work on it and take off. Thanks

Hi mate Doesn't this pipeline connect to the back of the turbo, nightmare to get to , heat shield etc all in the way , access is terribly awkward, I've cut my pipe half way , and intended to re join it with a 6mm coupling from my local plumber merchant, glad you got yours sorted, probably was a big relief, how's the fix doing has it held up well 👍

Hi Jim, can you give us the part number for the exhaust pressure sensor pipe please, so can speak to Nissan to arrange to get it replaced please ?

Look up O'Riley on KZfaq,he fixes this issue properly as in these videos hes only doing half a job, you need to apply dpf cleaning fluid via compression at 130psi & run the engine at 3000rpm whilst reading the dof pressure with a good obd reader, once the pressure is liw enough you need to reset the soot level in the dpf. O'rileys the soot doctor 👍
