مولاي صلــــي وسلــــم دائمـــاً أبــــدا
علـــى حبيبــــك خيــر الخلق كلهـم
ياربي صلي على محمد وعلى
ساداتنا الـه وصحبه الكـرام
أمن تذكــــــر جيــــــرانٍ بذى ســــــلم
مزجت دمعا جَرَى من مقلةٍ بـــــدم
َامْ هبَّــــت الريـــــحُ مِنْ تلقاءِ كاظمــةٍ
وأَومض البرق في الظَّلْماءِ من إِضم
فما لعينيك إن قلت اكْفُفاهمتـــــــــــــــا
وما لقلبك إن قلت استفق يهـــــــــم
أيحسب الصب أن الحب منكتـــــــــــم
ما بين منسجم منه ومضطــــــــرم
لولا الهوى لم ترق دمعاً على طـــــللٍ
ولا أرقت لذكر البانِ والعلــــــــــمِ

فكيف تنكر حباً بعد ما شـــــــــــــهدت
به عليك عدول الدمع والســـــــــقمِ
وأثبت الوجد خطَّيْ عبرةٍ وضــــــــنى
مثل البهار على خديك والعنــــــــم
نعم سرى طيف من أهوى فأرقنـــــــي
والحب يعترض اللذات بالألــــــــمِ
يا لائمي في الهوى العذري معـــــذرة
مني إليك ولو أنصفت لم تلــــــــــمِ
عدتك حالي لا سري بمســــــــــــــتتر
عن الوشاة ولا دائي بمنحســـــــــم
محضتني النصح لكن لست أســـــمعهُ
إن المحب عن العذال في صــــــممِ
Chapter 2
إنى اتهمت نصيح الشيب في عـــــذلي
والشيب أبعد في نصح عن التهـــتـمِ
فإن أمارتي بالسوءِ ما أتعظــــــــــــــت
من جهلها بنذير الشيب والهــــرم
ولا أعدت من الفعل الجميل قــــــــــرى
ضيف ألم برأسي غير محتشــــــم
لو كنت أعلم أني ما أوقــــــــــــــــــــره
كتمت سراً بدا لي منه بالكتــــــــمِ
من لي برِّ جماحٍ من غوايتهـــــــــــــــا
كما يردُّ جماح الخيلِ باللُّجـــــــــُم
فلا ترم بالمعاصي كسر شهوتهــــــــــا
إن الطعام يقوي شهوة النَّهـــــــــم
والنفس كالطفل إن تهملهُ شبَّ علــــى
حب الرضاعِ وإن تفطمهُ ينفطــــم
فاصرف هواها وحاذر أن توليــــــــــه
إن الهوى ما تولى يصم أو يصـــــم
وراعها وهي في الأعمالِ ســــــــائمةٌ
وإن هي استحلت المرعى فلا تسم
كم حسنت لذةً للمرءِ قاتلــــــــــــــــــة
من حيث لم يدرِ أن السم فى الدسم
واخش الدسائس من جوعٍ ومن شبع
فرب مخمصةٍ شر من التخـــــــــــم
واستفرغ الدمع من عين قد امتـــلأت
من المحارم والزم حمية النـــــــدمِ
وخالف النفس والشيطان واعصهمــا
وإن هما محضاك النصح فاتَّهِـــــم
ولا تطع منهما خصماً ولا حكمـــــــــاً
فأنت تعرف كيد الخصم والحكـــــم
أستغفر الله من قولٍ بلا عمـــــــــــــلٍ
لقد نسبتُ به نسلاً لذي عُقــــــــــُم
أمْرتُك الخير لكن ما ائتمرت بــــــــــه
وما اســـــتقمت فما قولى لك استقمِ
ولا تزودت قبل الموت نافلــــــــــــــةً
ولم أصل سوى فرض ولم اصـــــم
Chapter 3
ظلمت سنة من أحيا الظلام إلــــــــــى
أن اشتكت قدماه الضر مــــــن ورم
وشدَّ من سغب أحشاءه وطــــــــــوى
تحت الحجارة كشحاً متـــــرف الأدم
وراودته الجبال الشم من ذهــــــــــبٍ
عن نفسه فأراها أيما شـــــــــــــــمم
وأكدت زهده فيها ضرورتـــــــــــــــه
إن الضرورة لا تعدو على العصــــم
وكيف تدعو إلى الدنيا ضرورة مـــن
لولاه لم تخرج الدنيا من العـــــــــدمِ

burda shareef was read every friday night in tamil nadu masjid until the wahabis rooted out this beautiful sunnah hasanah .

its not Sunnah my brother, the Prophet peace be upon him did not read burda nor the companions of the prophet.

it is not praise , when you praise yourself. it is only praise if others praise you. The prophet saw honoured a sahabah and gave him a cloak because he made a burda on him. This shows the acceptability of burda. This is the first burda. People like you believe the Prophet saw is dead! when the Quran says he is alive! There is still connection between the Prophet saw and the ummah through salawat and burda is a beautiful salawat. Of course, it cannot take the place of reading the Quran. Anything which develops love for our Prophet saw and the practice of which does not involve elements which contradict the shariah cannot be bidaa. you need to define bidaa'. whatever happened to the hadith on sunnah hasana? This is a sunnah hasanah.

Mido Roman do not question love. it is very mestrious oh my brother in islam, i ask you to remember syeduna jabirr r.a he was so estatic and happy and went into a spiritual state, the prophet s.a.w did not stop him. so now we are questioning this? have we as an ummah have zero shame? this is not right, we must love the prophet, more then anything, our wealth families our own selfs, only then can we taste the truth of imaan

I am not sure I understand what you are talking about so please clarify. The issue I was speaking about is not reading poetry praising the prophet (saw), the issue is that this particular Burda includes statements which are akin to shirk attributing to the prophet (saw) what is not to him. Please read this Burda and share your comments and thoughts about if it contains such shirk statements or not.

The cd is available online for ~£50 (also a $20 version available from zaytuna institute, but I can't see any difference when I look at them online). Search for "sheikh hamza yusuf qasida burda".

qasida burda....An example of shirk in ruboobiyyah is the stanza: “And of your generosity is the (creation) of the Wolrd and its co-wife (meaning the Hereafter)…” Here it is as if the World and the Hereafter was created from the generosity of the Prophet (SAW). An example of Shirk in Asma wa sifaat: “And part of your knowledge is the knowlege of the Tablet and the Pen…” So PART of the knowledge of the Prophet (SAW) is the knoewledge that is encompassed in the LAwh al-Mahufdh - the tablet that has EVERYTHING written on it!! and that is only ‘part’ of his knowledge!! Compare this mystic poem with the authentic hadeeth in Bukhari where a young girl said “And we have a prophet who knows what will happen tommorrow.’ to which the Prophet (SAW) said, “Leave this (bit), and say the rest of it.” Example of shirk in uloohiyyah: ” And who else there, besides you, who I can call out, at times of distress and problems?” Umm… how about our Creator, the only one the Prophet (SAW) HIMSELF would turn to at times of distress?? The poem is a prime example of over-praising the Prophet (SAW) and putting him ina place where even he himself would not like.

@@naz2you Assalamualaikum Brother Nazir hope this reaches you in health. I would like to point out first that words of the poem should be understood how the author meant for it to be understood. Saying that is shirk based on your understanding of the verses is silly in the least unless your a master in the arabic language and poetry. @@AaAa-nq6dl There is nothing wrong with reciting a poem in itself if it contains that which is good. As for reciting a poem that contains major shirk, then that is very wrong. This is some of the shirk that this poem contains: 1. O noblest of creation, I have no one but you to turn to except you when major calamity strikes. 2. If you do not take my hand out of kindness on the Day of Resurrection, then what great trouble I will be in. 3. This world and the Hereafter are part of what you control, and part of your knowledge is the knowledge of al-Lawh al-Mahfooz and the Pen 4. Stay away from the way of the Christians in praising their Prophet, then (after that) praise him in any way you want 5. If he were to perform miracles commensurate with his real status, his name would bring dead people back to life. 6. I have a connection to him because I am called Muhammad as he is, and he is the kindest of creation in taking care of this connection.

@Coffee Shop.Com How am I putting a limit to Allah? Did I say anything that indicated that? Ofcourse we should love Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم more than any other human being. He is the noblest and best of creation no doubt, the best of all Prophets and of all humankind. BUT we can never give him divine attributes, and make duaa' to him, because this is against the first and most important pillar of our deen, that is لا اله الا الله . If we do this, then how are we different from the christians who are doing the same thing with Isaa عليه السلام? We gain Allah's love from worshiping Him ALONE and following his Prophet, not worshiping his Prophet too. If you worship the Porphet عليه الصلاة والسلام or anyone else besides Allah, then you are certainly not gaining Allah love my friend. May Allah guide you and us to the straight path اللهم آمين

O noblest of creation I have no one to turn to when major calamity strikes When the major calamity strikes i.e the day of Qiyama tge people will turn to the prophets one by one and they will refuse to intercede on our behalf except Prophet Muhammad saw. Where is the shirk in that my wahabi friend? 2. If you do not take my hand in kindness on the day of judgement what great misfortune is mine To any one with two working brain cells this means that we are in need of the Prophet saw intercession on the day of judgement. What the problem with that The rest are either uncontroversial or malicious mistranslation on your part of some other wahabi. Nowhere does it say the prophet saw "controls" the hereafter but that success there will be to those who go throught him (saw)
