Yes brother. We are seeking the help of Allah by means of asking RasulAllah and showing love to him (saw), just as we are actually seeking the help of Allah when we call the police, when we eat food to cure our hunger, etc. RasulAllah is alive and Allah makes him to hear us, that’s why we say salaams directly to him in salaat.
