Today I reached the true pinnacle of luxury when I got the chance to fly on my first Airbus A380 on my favorite airline, Qatar Airways. The entire experience was amazing, and my only regret was that the flight wasn't longer!

The problem with Qatar's first class is their business class....the soft product is so similar! Nice video!

They only have an F cabin on the their small 380 fleet (which won't be around too much longer as new aircraft arrive) and like 4 or 5 777-300ERs they took over from CX. The business class actually varies pretty widely based on what aircraft you're on with them.

AWWW damn bro you beat me to it. I just took a round trip 1st class 777 BA JFK to Turkey. They fed me so much I had to turn down breakfast. I can't wait to try this 1st class. Great video Mr Shea.

Very thorough review, the lounge looked amazing, food selection very appealing. The entire airport looked very interesting and innovative. The gardens are truly lovely and pretty opulent. That plane had the most luxurious bathroom I’ve ever seen. The food looks divine. This review was fantastic!

That was one of the most thorough reviews of QR's A380 First Class experience I've seen. I experienced it flying the opposite direction, from BKK, where we had two meal services. The food was very good although not spectacular as it is on Emirates. I think you missed the shared First Class / Business Class lounge in the back half of the cabin. The IFE interface was troublesome which I thought was due to the age of the aircraft. It's funny to see almost every passenger taking videos of the Al Safwa lounge - that's how awesome it is.

The Al Safwa lounge is incredible! And yea I did miss out on the lounge. On a flight under 6 hours I was too busy enjoying my seat. Maybe I’ll get the chance to try it again!

Qatar is simply next level! However, limited free wifi in 1st class seems really stingy because it's quickly becoming a free offering on other airlines regardless of class.

This overall airport's design and its luxury services are way beyond the services, design, quality, etc. of Dubai DXB Airport. Although, the First Class design, services, privacy, etc. of Emirates A380s are way beyond Qatar Airways. WOW!

Been on their business class from Colombo to doha Doha to Montréal Canada. Service was excellent on Q suite. Ate so much specially cashew nuts ..and lots of liquor... Pajama set was really comfy... Best thing was ..u could have your food any time and any number of times u want ...unlike in economy

Great video and review- the green mixed stuff is called Tabouli and a staple of middle eastern cuisine - it all looked great - it’s also good that they have resurrected the A380’s to cope with an increase in demand and the only aircraft that has a first class🙏🏼

The only thing I would suggest but this reference is for Qatar management, A380 First Class suits need extra partition for better control of one's privacy, especially during sleep time or dining. Maybe a booklet to display what's in your cabin?

Love the review and the style of your video! I've done the Al Safwa lounge about 5 or 6 times now and it is a true game changer - just FYI you mentioned highest oneworld tier has access but this is not true - it is only for true first class coded flights on QA and highest tier on QA. Thanks!! (QA has very few first class flights - mainly the MENA region and the A380 or a few wet leased 777 with 3 class service)

Correction: Finnair DOES serve DOH now: HEL, CPH, and ARN. You can also book the flight through AY as well as QR. It's a codeshare on QR.

To add on to this - CEO of QR - Akbar Al Baker - is the Chairman of Oneworld, and is trying to build Doha into an Oneworld mega hub. So, he is having Oneworld airlines take over from QR on select frequencies

For many reasons I still prefer EMIRATES First Class suites, especially on the A380 where EMIRATES has a shower on board. The amenities on this First Class of QR is the same as their Business Class amenity kit

Just a small correction. Oneworld Emeralds do not get access to Al Safe Lounge without being in First Class. They would get into the Platinum Lounge. Or Al Mourjan if in Business.

hey hey, don't knock the XXL PJ's lol. I have found (yes, I will use and need the XXL's if they have them) that certain carriers pj's shrink quite a bit if you want to use them after. I give all mine to my mom or my lil sisters.

I personally don't see JFK doing that, as their money is spend to make the airport more efficient or have more capacity as it has an insane amount of aircraft movements. A more tropical destination would be more likely. Somewhere where it doesn't get freezing cold for half the year. Something in Florida or California maybe

I’ve been trying to fly the A380 on QR all year. They keep moving it. I tried from CDG and to/from BKK but I keep missing it. Thanks for posting this. Why didn’t you go to the inflight bar? That’s what I want to do most on the QR A380. I’m on the 777-300ER that QR bought from Virgin Australia. They have a little bar but doesn’t seem as grand as the one found on A380

I wonder whats the future of Al Safwa first class lounge once all their A380s are phased out. Also, I would find it an incomplete review without the onboard lounge experience. On my recent flight with Qatar on a connecting flight from Doha to Bangkok, I was super excited to fly A380 primarily because of the onboard lounge but the last minute equipment change resulted me flying in a Qsuite.

Qatar need to send their A380s to JFK. They should push Terminal 8 to make a 3-jetway gate to support an A380, and with that Qantas can switch to an A380 on their upcoming Sydney-JFK via Auckland route.

Curious how you booked this flight. You used 50,000 miles. So you searched all their offerings for what was available in first class, found his great bargain, and even though you may not have needed to go to Bangkok, booked it? Then figured out how to get to Doha?

I spend literally hours just plugging in different city pairs and airlines and all to find the best value, whether it is miles or money. Then I’ll build my trips around that. It usually involves using economy to get somewhere for cheap to then fly business or first class, so it’s a little bit of everything

This flight was too short for that bar, but I wouldn’t say that my experience suffered because of it. If I were to get this flight to Sydney or Perth I would totally get back there to check it out

If you have AA miles, use their mileage calendar when booking to help find the cheapest dates. I’m not sure if this is still valid, but I found it in January. I do know Qatar frequently has mileage redemption deals with AA but you have to kinda plug in a ton of different city pairings to get the best deal

My guess is that it won’t change for a while. I’d assume this lounge will stay for the highest of one world status members and people flying in whatever first class seats are left
