Qatar food security: Doha becomes less reliant on imported goods

Friday marks three years since Saudi Arabia and its allies imposed an illegal blockade on Qatar.
Prior to the diplomatic standoff, 40 percent of the country's overall imports came from its neighbours.
Since then, Qatar has invested in production and technology, becoming one of the highest-ranked countries in food security in the region.
Al Jazeera's Dorsa Jabbari reports from Doha.

Wrong. Learn some basic economics first. You have taken up the classis mercantilism position which has been thoroughly discredited. Just because you "can" grow vegetables does not mean you "should" grow vegetables. Qatar needs to do what's gives it the best comparative advantage in. They may be "self reliant" But I would bet top dollar this is extremely inefficient and not cost effective. Trade blockades and tariffs are almost always bad and makes everyone worse off.

I can remember a speech erdogan made ...when the blockade made... He quoted some Quran verses that says .. The many small groups have defeated large groups... He spoke from Quran... And Quran never fails.. We are now seeing in our own eyes... That ksa struggling economically...uae investment on hafter and in Yemen have been humiliated....

Well done but Israel first point of call when they created their state was the need of water. They made this priority using the mediterranian waters and desalinating them to provide drinking water for people and the agricultural land. Qatar and other Arab nations need to learn that asap for your survival! Especially Jordan!
