Minor comment: "fusion zone/filler penetration (=melted area) " is mentioned to be "Heat Affected Zone" (HAZ) which is not true.A HAZ (not melted area) is the area that is located in base material and has micro structural changes so it starts from that fusion line or weld junction and ends to that area which is called heat affected area

The very first lesson you try to teach is the Welding Symbol, not as you stated the "Weld Symbol". The weld symbol is the actual type of weld (ie. fillet/groove etc), which is used as part of _the welding symbol_ to depict weld joint type. According to AWS cm2000. Sometimes this question can be found on the actual cwi test.

Great video, I dont mean to nit pick but i noticed you used the term weld symbol for both the "Welding Symbol" and the "Weld Symbol", I just wanted to make sure people understand the difference. The weld symbol is the actual fillet weld groove butt weld...symbol. The Welding Symbol is the entire symbol with all its components.

At the 8:22 mark of the video you show that a backing bar is used, but the welding symbol shows an .125" melt through symbol. To show that a backing bar is used a rectangle should be displayed on the other side of the welding symbol. I'm not trying to bust your balls, just some constructive criticism.

What you are calling a weld symbol is in reality a WELDING SYMBOL . A weld symbol is a small part of the Welding symbol. Don't believe me??? Check out the American Welding Society Definition that describes the difference between WELD SYMBOL and WELDING SYMBOL.
