You can be sure all this fun, precision, and musicality doesn't happen without a lot of practice.

The amount of Americans that think this origin of this song IS American is absolutely astounding. It's Irish.

What a great sound!! Played in string bands many years ago and this group is absolutely the best. Brings back such wonderful memories. Thank you and I'm so glad I found you on youtube. Its a daily ritual to listen to you now. Your orchestration is superb!! Love the combination of banjos, saxes, bases, accordions and percussion. Thanks for providing such wonderful entertainment. Hope to be able to see you perform in person one day!! God bless and keep on strutting. You deserve to be #1!!!

I thought the writer came from Oldbury West Midlands?
@anthonyduffy12784 ай бұрын
I think that’s a typo, the author was Jack JUDGE. He definitely was from Oldbury, not far from me. But maybe had a connection up North also. The song itself was made famous when British soldiers were disembarking from boats in France, and heading to the front lines of WW1. The regiment the Connaught Rangers, was reported singing this song in the Daily Mail newspaper and as they say. The rest is history!

Written in England, by an English man, and popularised as a marching song in the British Army. You might as well claim the Marseillaise as “Great American music”.
