This video is a record of the occasion of the departure on her final voyage, to Dubai, of the Queen Elizabeth 2 from Southampton on 11th November 2008.
We start with a look at her from on board the Hythe Ferry and we also see the flypast of a Harrier jet and some clips of the historic vessel SS Shieldhall which on this date was chartered to offer a close view of QE2's departure for a lucky few.
The traditional send off firework display is shown in full.
After that, the closing scenes show QE2 starting to move down the Southampton Water, her home for nearly 40 years, never to return. She is currently a floating luxury hotel in Dubai.
Given the length of this video I may later post separate videos of the Shieldhall and the Harrier - possibly also of the firework display - using this same footage.
