I haven’t listened to this piece in a while. I’ve always wanted to see the score. I always love how Qigang Chen’s music often feels like a soft breeze that then picks up intensity and quiets down again.

Well, there are some "core" composers that I've posted regularly (if ~once a year is regularly), and Qigang Chen is one of them. Besides that, I'm always looking for new music, online or at local performances, and if there's a piece that really impresses me, I'll want to feature it on the channel, like the Oswald Huỳnh piece I shared a couple of weeks ago ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pNOBgsWCtdfTXY0.html ) (Shoutout while I'm here to these composers I found locally Sid Richardson kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r5hxq8Khv7a8pZ8.html and Elijah Daniel Smith kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rruAl5CH1pzDdYU.html )

@@lylecohen1638 In the past few years he devoted more time to writing his autobiography, which just got published last year. From the Boosey & Hawkes website, he is currently working on a new double concerto and a large-scale orchestral work.

Parts of this have a similar alien but dreamlike quality to some of John Williams' score for E.T.

if anyone can answer: what do the different "desks" mean for the string section? is that just the different parts (violin 1 2, 3...) written a different way?

"Desks" is another way of describing stands. So the composer is designating exactly which stand in the first violin section should play which part. The 1st desk would be concertmaster and associate concertmaster, second desk would be 3rd chair and 4th chair, 3rd desk would be 5th chair and 6th chair, and so on. Hope this helps :)

Will you be doing Joie Eternelle by Qigang Chen as well? In the past I looked through all their works and found those two that did not yet have score videos at the time.

To be honest, I don't like the piece, so no. My favorite piece of Chen's in general is Enchantements oubliés, which does not have a score video either
