This match went exactly how I thought it would. I really like Zheng but she needs to up her aggression, meaning more coming to the net, serving and volleying, etc. Also, she took too long to get "fired up" and by the time she did, it was way too late. You gotta storm out of the gate against Sabalenka.
@benthekeeshond545

Not many players can do that. For Sabalenka to lose, her opponent has to be able to pressure her with groundstrokes. If Sabalenka serves well, forget it. If Sabalenka's opponent does not serve well, Sabalenka's returns are brutal. The only 2 players trouble Sabalenka are Iga and Elena.

Total domination from Sabalenka at this AO. Zheng really did the best she could at her first Grand Slam final vs an opponent that was red hot the entire tournament. Aryna was destined to win it all after winning vs Coco in straight sets. What a flawless performance. She had only 10 double-faults this entire tournament and zero in this final. That was unbelievable. The thing that impressed me the most was her mentality and her composure. In total control from beginning to end. It was a bit wobbly in the final game and she showed a bit of frustration but only after the points. As soon as she stepped up to the line to serve, she got right back to her elements. Very well-deserved win for Aryna and many more to come.

Zheng didn't play badly but Sabalenka was just too much game today. Her serve was working well, good first serve percentage, her return is the best in the game currently. Quinwen is great but at this point Sabalenka is just too free flowing with her ground game and going for her shots no matter what. Also solid that she choked away 3 match points and didn't let it stop her from moving forward and still going for it.

As she has proven on numerous occasions, Sabalenka can be the most dominating figure on the women's tour. She has the game to win on any surface, including clay, where several years back she was killing it in Madrid and Rome, at times blowing good players off the court. She turns 26 in May, just before the French Open, and, health allowing, she has a great chance to take more majors this year. Even all of them! Consistency, of course, is a critical factor, and sometimes she just gets sloppy or distracted or loses concentration. IMO, she got psyched out by Gauff in the last US Open. Love to see her win at Roland Garros, as a nice change of pace from Iga. The shrieking IS obnoxious, and in fact I am not a big fan of hers, but her physical abilities have to be acknowledged. Consecutive AO championships -- that is something fellow Belarussian Azarenka achieved in 2012-13. Congrats, Aryna. Big win.

The level of power Sabalenka puts into her backhand shots - Truly remarkable.🦾👌

Shes not even that powerful. She’s just in a weak era where no one has power. I’m 16 and play high school football and I’m more powerful than Sabalenka

No one came even close to beating Saba this tourney. Maybe Gauff, but that still only went 2 sets. Barty and Halep vibes. Congrats

I miss Halep. It’s a shame she felt she had to dope, but it really is a power game now.

All the haters about a bad FINAL I would love to see one of you get into your first final, Sabalenka was on fire the whole tournament and improved her tennis, I’m glad Zheng made history again for her country; plus she was good to hang with Aryana’s power….happy glad both got to the AO final…..stop hating!!

@YahikoAmekagure like I said there are haters who make negative comments about what that match should have been and about Zheng ability; as I said they both got to the final which is a plus and for Zheng now to be in the top 10 speaks positively above the negativity…period!!

You don't have to be a "hater" to be disappointed. Frankly, the shrieking is enough to make many turn off the TV (as we did). It's bloody awful, let alone the embarrasment of a final that lasts for just over an hour. Let's not talk about pay...
