Hello wonderful people
Hope your day is going well.
In this video I’m going to talk to you about OLED and QLED technologies and we’ll cover the differences between them, where each option may work better and my overall opinion.
I want to emphasize that this won’t be a technical deep dive into how these technologies work. There’s plenty of great videos out there on that already and they’ve likely done a much better job explaining the technologies than I ever could.

This is a brilliant video that explains OLED v QLED in simple language which, unlike so many videos, is easy to listen to and understand. The verbal delivery is clear and well-paced rather than too fast or mumbled, and for that I thank you greatly. The section on viewing at an angle was a real eye-opener and is a key factor in my choice, as is eye comfort. A sincere thank you for one of the best videos I've seen in ages.

@MarioIliev

Great video, but you were not accurate on one thing which you paid very little attention to, but it was a very big deal when I was taking a decision on which TV to buy. It's true that OLED panels are way thinner than QLED but LG OLED TVs processing hardware, HDMI ports etc. are attached to the screen itself so you end up with very very thin screen attached to a very very big hardware. Because I was aiming for a very clean, minimalistic, cabeless wall mount look for my new apartment, the Samsung was my only choice since it's hardware is external. So if we are talking TV by TV comparison, the Samsung QN900A is around 6 times thinner than LG C2 OLED for example. I gave this exact model comparison because I have the Samsung in my living room and the LG in my bedroom. If a freshly Samsung owner is reading this and is frustrated from the TV black levels, let me help you. Because of energy regulations, which Samsung should obey, their default settings aim to dim the screen a lot, lowering the brightness from multiple settings. When I first turned the TV, I was very frustrated and even considered returning it. After a lot of digging and experimenting I found out that some settings are not very obviously set per each Picture Mode. So all settings which I'll list here you should manually set 5 times for each 5 Picture Modes. Picture -> Picture Expert Settings: Brightness - 50 Contrast - 50 Picture Clarity Settings - Auto Local Dimming - High Contrast Enhancer - Low Colour Tone - Standard General -> Intelligent Mode Settings: Off General -> Power and Energy Saving: Brightness Optimisation: Off Brightness Reduction: Off Motion Lighting: Off Again, keep in mind that ALL of those settings are per picture mode, even the ones in General. Those settings, of course, can differ between TV models, but this is what I can do for you. Have a nice day.

Yeah, i don't know about that oled has less lag, at least watching moving objects, such as cars passing by, text on the side of the trucks etc. Indent to get blurry, while as in Qled, you can read those texts easily... might be a different thing, but qled have come really close in every aspect vs oled.

You did a better job then I could have imagined. Kudo's for that !!! Quick question, but Very important to me: I decided on the OLEG, but my TV is on 24/7 ( I have 2 Cancers, and rarely leave my room - AND use the TV as white noise to get me to sleep, and I enjoy it on all the time, and when I'm on computer, it's there next to me. So with it on 24/7 ( watching movie's, occasionally History channel, etc. and just bought the MONSTERBOX X1 PRO ) Should I worry about burn -in with my type of usage ???????
@Revolve-Studios
@Revolve-Studios 2 жыл бұрын
Firstly thank you for the kind words! I think it depends on the type of content you are watching. For example if you're always on the same TV channel, the area where the logo is could burn in. What you can do if it works for you, is to set a sleep timer on the TV after say 2 hours. That way, you can fall asleep and it'll turn itself off afterwards. Movies or streaming services where there's no static image should be completely fine running 24/7.

I think QLED is the way to go for TV displays. Burn-in is such a huge drawback; if you are going to be using your TV for gaming or watch the news a lot or just a particular channel, you will begin to see areas where pixels are brighter and parts where they are duller. For games you will probably see things like health bar, the map, basically any HUD components. Even if you watch movies, most movies have a ratio of 21:9 and your display is 16:9 so this is why movies have black bars at the top and bottom of the TV; those pixels are turned off so if you watch a lot of movies, those pixels are unused. When you decide you want to see something that does cover your whole screen, the pixels where the bars used to be will be brighter then the middle.

I'm no expert on any of this, but I am curious about the topic discussed @8:18 about refresh rate. I see gaming monitors being marketed as 175hz, 240hz and above. How is this deceptive? I was under the impression that competitive gamers wanted to play at very high framerates with a monitor capable of refreshing fast enough to display those frames with as little lag as possible so that they can see movement in the game a split second before their opponent, thus giving them an edge. Please clarify how these high refresh rates are simply marketing. Or are you pointing out that TVs don't need refresh rates in the multiple hundreds since all content is shot at much lower fps and thus there's no point to refresh at 240hz if you're watching a movie at 24fps?

Imo OLED, QLED and LCD in general has blooming which takes away from the image even with QLED and 1,000+ nits you still get milky colors and it tends to wash the picture out a bit which OLED has no issues with this and Full array local dimming helps to a point but even then its still not even close to what OLED can do and with tvs so basically your adding brightness to a meh contrast tv and I feel with all great tvs it starts with contrast which is why OLED with higher contrast and lower peak brightness looks better and samsung knows that which is why try moving mini led etc atm nothing is beating OLED tech

@Revolve-Studios
@Revolve-Studios 11 ай бұрын
I'd say quite important, the PS5 supports 120 (or 100) FPS and you'll need the higher refresh rate to be able to display those extra frames. It could make your games feel twice as smooth! But not all games support this, so it depends what you play.

1080p is still viable for the future, definitely the next 10 years. 4K content isn't produced readily since it requires bandwidth and processing power that eats up CPU's and GPU's like a plague. It's not a big a jump as 480i to 1080p unless you're close to your monitor to see the minute details. Color, input lag, and refresh rate should be more important than just resolution.

I really wanna buy a Oled tv and I know I can but that’s the only thing stopping me from getting a expensive OLED tb the burn in I’m worried because my girl watches Netflix certain shows and tend to majority of the time to leave it paused and leave it there for little bit but not to long but Iknow a Oled I would love a lot more then a qled for our room because we both only watch tv at night should I be worried about burn in

Hi! Just so you know, my LG C8 switches to a screensaver after a few minutes of inactivity, it won't leave a static image up for long :)

FreshvY, if you want more stable tv for many years to come and don’t care about burning, so go for qled!, I bought xc65 but returned and went for qled only for afraid for burning so now I have QE65Q95T and I’m so happy especially with one connect box

@@Revolve-Studios No it won’t, but even the menu on LG (half black screen and half tv screen element) is making the display suffer from brun in. I have a C7 and after some calibrations there is a line in the middle of the screen. The menu should be all black, but LG never learn.

I have 3 OLEDs, regular use, burn in is real. I have a B7A in the spare room as i can't bring myself to throw it away yet, with a green blob and some weird starburst thing in the bottom right corner that I honestly can't recall ever seeing on any of the channels I watch or games I play, but needless to say it is now a worthless pile of junk. I replaced it with a QN90A and I honestly can't notice any of the deficiencies that these reviewers go on about. I feel like I bought into marketing hype with the OLED and now have a burned in pile as my penance. The Neo Qled looks great to me.

@@faustomadebr no problem man. I game on it. I watch 6-9 hours of football every Sunday and I have absolutely no issues If you literally just play the same game all day long every day day after day yea it is cause for concern. But if you use it like a normal viewer it truly isn't some scary thing people try to make it put to be. The first few weeks i was paranoid as hell but then I just got over it. Only thing i will recommend is that you buy a warranty that covers burn in just in case.

Qled has better detail especially in those darker scenes. Qled Looks way more vibrant and holds the colours better even when brightness is increased. Oled in comparison is so dark it can lead to depression 😐
