It was fitting to watch Bryan Wolfmueller discuss joy. I see him as one of the most joy-filled Christians (not just out of Lutherans, but ALL Christians) ministering. It makes no difference how many years you may go back into his videos...every single video features a man who clearly has the same joy as someone who has JUST discovered the love and forgiveness of our Lord. If anything, he actually becomes MORE joyful with time. This kind of faith is rare.

You're right! He reminds me of John Lennox, the brilliant mathematician and Christian who debates atheists. Christian apologist Frank Turek described a debate between Lennox and surly atheist Richard Dawkins like this: it was like Santa Claus versus the 😈 devil. Wolfmueller also has that type of 🎅 Santa joy.

@user-lh3uk6by3i great perspective! I've watched that debate, and I have to agree with the comparison. The confidence that Lennox displayed was rooted in pure faith, without an ounce of arrogance. I think that's one of the key factors which create contentment/ happiness...or a pastor who is a joy to listen to.

Thinking that God is a narcissist because He wants to be worshipped is coming from a selfish mindset. He wants us to worship him because he is the greatest good and He wants us to worship Him because it is good for US. Worship is a gift to us.

"Oh that is the book you follow, we have our own as well." Distinguishing the BOC is essential to distinguishing original Christianity from the heresies in the post modern church. I need a class!

Thank you for sharing your understanding concerning confessions. Satan’s conviction Vs Holy Spirit’s conviction: “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Below is my understanding of confessions in Christ: Question: my confessions are Christian, and yet do they make me worthy enough to belong in the LCMS fellowship? “Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart!” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭32‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬ What makes us “righteous”? “What does Scripture say? “Abraham “believed God”, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Believe ~ The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness- --> for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭23-25‬ ‭NIV‬‬ I respect Luther (and why I became a LCMS Member) for him standing on the “Word of God” alone. And boldly bringing us back to grace alone through the blood of Christ. (Romans 5:8-10) Martin Luther who said, “I can only choose to adhere to the “Word of God”, which has possession of my conscience; nor can I possibly, nor will I ever make any recantation, since it is neither right nor safe to act contrary to conscience! Here I stand; I cannot do otherwise, so help me God! Amen.” Question: if the BOC is following the Word of God, why do we need the BOC? “My son, beware of anything beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness of the flesh.” ‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12‬:‭12‬ ‭ESV‬‬ (1 Corinthians 4:6) Do not go beyond what is written… And to God be the GLORY! Doesn’t man’s interpretations cause division in Christ’s Church Body/Bride?

I am First and foremostly a Bible Believing Christian, but I am a Lutheran as well, my Great great grandfather was the 1st Lutheran Missionary here in South Australia, however I have difficulty telling others of his wonderful story, so I have written a Book about his Works, through the m Holy Spirit! I also have difficulties with our 10 Commandments, as if you read the Holy Bible properly, you will find that the True 2nd Commandment is Not to have any Graven Images made for us to Worship, but in our Catechism the 2nd commandment shows us that it is not to take the Name of The LORD in Vain! Whenever I read Exodus it clearly showsmus that the Graven Images is the True 2nd Commandment! I will always be Speaking of the Truth, and that GOD'S WORD is the Absolute Truth! I think that dear Brother Luther brought his Catechism through the Roman Catholic Church, not his fault BUT we have to change our Catechism because of what is in the BIBLE Not of what we have to say! GOD Bless you all in your Holy Teachings and to indeed to Live BIBLICALLY! Love from your sister in Christ, Julie 🙏

On the question, "Is God egotistical/narcissistic for wanting to be worshipped," here's a great quote from Augustine: "God does not require sacrifices, but he wishes them to be offered as symbols of what he does require. Could anyone be such a fool as to suppose that the sacrificial offerings are necessary to God-that they are of any use to him? There are many passages in holy Scripture to witness this point; but it will be enough to cut a long story short by quoting a short extract from one of the psalms: 'I said to the Lord, "You are my God, for you have no need of my possessions" ' [Psalm 16:2; cf. also Hosea 6:6 and Psalm 51:17]. Thus, far from needing any cattle, or any other corruptible and earthly thing, we must believe that God does not need even the righteousness of man; and that it is man, not God, who is benefits by all the worship which is rightly offered to God... Thus the visible sacrifice is the sacrament, the sacred sign, of the invisible sacrifice. That is why the penitent in the prophet's book, if it was not the prophet himself, seeks God's forgiveness for his sins with these words, 'If you had wished for sacrifice, I would certainly have given it: but you will not delight in holocausts. The sacrifice offered to God is a broken spirit; God will not despise a heart that is broken and humbled' [Psalm 51:16-17]. "Observe how he says that God does not want sacrifice, and how in the same place, he shows that God does desire sacrifice. God does not want the sacrifice of a slaughtered animal, but he desires the sacrifice of a broken heart... When he says that God does not want sacrifices he means that he does not want them in the way supposed by the fools, namely for his own gratification. For if he had not wished the sacrifices he desires (and there is only one, the heart bruised and humbled in the sorrow of penitence) to be signified by those sacrifices which he was supposed to long for as if they gave him pleasure, then he would certainly not have prescribed their offering in the old Law. And the reason why they had to be changed, at the fitting and predestined time, was to prevent the belief that those things were objects of desire to God himself, or at least were acceptable gifts from us to him, and to make us realize that what God required was that which they signified. This is the message of another passage, from another psalm: 'If I am hungry, I shall not tell you: for the whole earth, and all that is in it, belongs to me. Am I likely to eat the flesh of bulls, or to drink the blood of goats?' [Psalm 50:12-13]. God is saying, in effect, 'Had I needed such things, I certainly would not have applied to you for them, seeing that I have them in my power, The psalmist goes on to explain the meaning of sacrifice by adding, 'Offer to God the sacrifice of praise, and fulfil your vows to the Most High. And call upon me in the day of tribulation and I shall rescue you; and you will glorify me' [Psalm 50:14-15]." ~St. Augustine, City of God X.5 And in another place, "...he makes it clear that he does not himself desire such sacrifices but uses them to point to things of greater worth. His purpose is not that he should be glorified by those honours, but that we should be inflamed by the fire of his love and aroused to worship him and unite ourselves to him; and that is a good for us, not for him" (X.17).
