My dad said he really wanted to see this Jolene, a fine enough woman to take a man from Dolly because he considered Dolly to be pretty much the finest woman out there. There is a clip out there somewhere of Dolly poking Avi in the tummy and trying to mimic his low voice. Then she giggles in Dolly style and you can see Avi thinks she's just terribly cute.

In an interview I read from Kevin today he talks about how the songwriters they worked with convinced them to try out different sounds than they’ve ever done before, resulting in a little bit more production on their studio recordings. I’m guessing that’s the sound we’re hearing in the background. He said they only added just enough production so when they performed it live the listener wouldn’t miss it in their concerts.

Yeah, I also wondered what that weird flute noise was. I hope it's not a flute, or some electronic sound. It's the same thing with Thank You. They are stepping away from a cappella, and that's what made them unique. I know Kevin plays cello in their videos, but somehow, it seems like a percussion part, especially when he is also beat-boxing. Jolene broke me out of my "I don't enjoy country music" shell. They won their third Grammy for this video, and iit's the only one they have for singing and not for arrangement. It is so good.

The original and this cover. It fascinates me how the energy of the song kinda doesn't match the lyrics. I mean, it's so full of energy, awesome rhythm and makes you want to dance while the lyrics really aren't as positive as the melody. But that's what I love about it. The part where you think Mitch did a wrong vowel sound on Jolene...you definitely hear the a-aah, it sounds deliberate to me, but itxs hard to say because you don't get to see what everyone else is doing but I do only hear the a-aah not an a-ooh. Now whether it's because his voice just lay so perfect over everyone else's is hard to say. I know they do it again but continue the note and phrase onwards, so it's possible he got ahead of it or it could be that it was deliberate to lead them into the next extended phrase. I'll have to go back to find your audio react to _The Lucky Ones_ because I seem to have missed it somehow on my way through your PTX playlist. The lyrics are kinda "oof" to me, I would guess they were Mitch and/or Scott's writing, it really feels like winning Sing-off saved them from having to constantly hide their real selves (of course we know Mitch suffered bullying growing up, so it could be a reflection of that) and that they're so worried about ending back there, whether it's in that place physically or metaphysically. Perhaps that's why they work so hard and seemingly so continuously because they know & worry that it can go away at any time. I might be wrong, but I think Mitch has worn the pink furry coat before (he must've been so hot in it though lol), possibly in a vid for the Superfruit album? _Vacation_ , maybe? I just know it looks familiar, so if it's not the same it's very close to it lol. I just watched your sing-off live yesterday and it's so interesting to see the changes in them, they seem considerably more serious than they used to, Kirstie's face shape has changed, slimming down as she's lost the "puppy fat" I guess you could call it. But what it also looks to me likeScott's lower jaw position has shifted forward slightly, and that's maybe what's made his vocals...idk _richer_ ... maybe, not sure how I would explain it, but it also means he's less smiley when singing; Obviously it seems what he's doing is working for him, but his jaw looks mouts shapes look tighter, at least in _The Lucky Ones_ . Mitch's voice has obviously become stronger, but you could hear that just between their win and their return on s4, but it's only gotten better as his confidence in it has grown, but it just seems he doesn't have that same high energy fun that he seemed to have in the early days when performing. Obviously they still love what they do, and it could just be maturity from agebut something seems to have suppressed that outright joy we used to see from Mitch in particular but all of them too to some extent; whether it be the industry making them have to mature quicker, the focus and full-on schedule, or something more in their personal life idk, but I hope that underneath they really are still having as much fun as they used to. Not sure if any of that makes sense, but it's just what it looks like to me when seeing those older vids so close together to these much newer ones.
