Revenge on Boro for them beating the Rs at Ayresome Park the previous October in Malcolm Allison's first game in charge of Boro. The Rs were champions this season and Boro relegated. Boro had to borrow those orange shirts from Rangers when the ref said their normal red shirts clashed with Rangers strip! Clive Allen was so so sharp a striker. A very young Martin Allen can be seen in the tunnel at 11.14 on the left of the screen. Happy days and a fine Rangers team. Thanks for posting!

@Martin63 nothing to do with colour clash - Boro turned up at Loftus Road with shirts with sponsors names on them (McLean Homes) and back then the Beeb didn't let teams wear sponsored shirts on TV so Boro had to get a set of shirts from somewhere. Don't know if they were QPR's training kit or whether they got shirts from a nearby sports shop. The game wasn't intended to be televised, so Boro just brought their usual home shirts not thinking there would be a problem BUT there was trouble with another game that MOTD was due to cover so the BBC sent cameras round to the nearest ground... Remember this was a second division game and you didn't get many of those on MOTD back then unless there was a screw up with a first division game.

If only the HD resolution was a bit better I could maybe see 17 year old me in the loft. *sigh*
