For Part 2 of Project: PearlJ, we install an AIRAID Intake System, a K&N Crankcase Vent Filter, a Painless Wiring Hi-Velocity Throttle Body and a Mishimoto 2 Port Compact Baffled Oil Catch Can on Mike's 2005 Wrangler TJ to go with the Sprintex Supercharger to squeeze as much power out of this build as we can.

Just an idea, do a stroker build with the same supercharger setup. You can call it an SS for supercharged stroker.😉

Could a throttle body spacer have been used instead of modifying the throttle body bracket? I still can't believe you found a TJ with less than 30,000 miles! Beautiful jeep guys!

you would be suprised what you can find if your patient...lol i waited for almost 10 years to get a jeep, found one that looked like it came straight out of the factory, an 04 wrangler sport, only 6,000 miles on the od. was a guest house vehicle and sold the house and traded the vehicles in to a local dealer, was there at the right place and right time..

So why did you opt for the 62mm instead of the 68mm throttle body? Would the 68mm still fit and function properly with the supercharger?

Has Pearl J thrown any codes since the supercharger? And if so, which codes and how were the codes cleared? Does this supercharger have California CARB approval by any chance? Looks like just what I need for my TJ...

We did get this code: P0174 System Too Lean (bank 2) we cleared them two times and has not come back since. As for C.A.R.B Sprintex says they have a pending approval.

I don't mean to be a troll, but I priced out everything you did and came up with a total cost of around $3,900 not including time. That calc's out to just under $100 per unit of hp and torque. Seems like a lot of cash for just 40 hp and 50 fp of torque. You could get almost half that with just a performance exhaust and intake upgrades for under $1,200 with no engine-life decrease. But we boys need our toys, don't we? Just saying...

I know this was on 2017... but in 2022 numbers that's like 5 grand for only 40HP..... that looks like a huge PITA for only a small gain.... not sure if you should advertise something like 42% of gain...... a stroker or a LS swap looks to be a better option....

What are the benefits of the K&N filter breather ?

he literally told u in the video, without the rubber tube connected to the intake it prevents blow by gas/oil from recirculating back into the engine to get burned off again. its meant that way for emissions purposes. with just the breather filter the gases just go through the breather and also to the catch can instead of back through the engine.

@@tomasurdal2041 why not just connect both tubes to the catch can so no blowy goes into the super charger? Then just cap the supercharger. The blowby air and oil will only recirculate back to the valve cover.

How exactly is that a “painless” throttle body if you have to fabricate a bracket to make it fit? Seems like the manufacturer could’ve included a bracket ready to go right out of the box. Isn’t that kind of the point if you’re calling your company “Painless”??

The throttle body is designed to install in the stock location, but with the supercharger installed on this Jeep the location is slightly different. Because most aftermarket parts are designed to work with other stock parts, sometimes you'll run into issues when trying to install more than one aftermarket part or accessory. That's all part of the fun of modifying and personalizing a Jeep, you've got to get a little creative sometimes to make one aftermarket part work with another.

Seems like a lot of time and money to pick up 40hp. And apparently Sprintex has greatly overestimated the amount of HP and Torque their supercharger puts out. According to Sprintex's numbers there's supposed be a 42% increase in HP and a 34% increase in torque. Increasing HP by 66.65 to 221.65 HP and increasing torque by 68.68 to 270.68. From what I've seen it barely increased the HP by 19% and torque by 24% . A waste of time and money IMHO. You could do an LS swap for about the same money maybe a little more once you sell the original engine. But it's your money and your jeep. I wouldn't drop almost 5 grand just for a 40 HP gain but, I guess I expect a little more bang for my buck than you do..

Fabricate what? Not sounding painless anymore. Let me check my pile of extra sheet metal lying around.. common guys work it out. You're marketing jeepers, spend the extra $1 and include it with the kit. Painless to me means not having to run and get stuff not included. Stopping the project, cleaning up, finding a ride or driving is a pain. There's enough pain already with jeeps lol. Just saying...

I have to ask. If the valve cover is stock then why would they design the IAC sensor to be positioned exactly in the wrong direction... Sounds like. Very poor design and a lack of foresight on the designers part. It's not like the valve cover came out of nowhere...

sijonda which would you rather have the added expense and time of installing a custom valve cover assuming that the valve train below it wouldn't still be in the way or would you rather have to reclock a piece you already took off anyways for free? Sounds like it wasn't a oversight. It's very common to relocate sensors when going FI.

Steve Pounder I'm hung up on why the designer of the supercharger didn't include something that small and cheap to make to install the throttle body with the sensor not hitting. I'm not saying you should buy a different valve cover. In my case I don't have access to tools to cut out and grind down a little plate to mount the sensor in a different direction, not that I want to supercharge my TJ anyway. I'm just pointing out something I think should have been handled already.

necro much? then there needs to be an adapter. Doesn't matter much to me anymore anyway since I posted that I've repeated found stupid things Chrysler did or I should say didn't do that makes me hate these things. So much potential wasted.
