So sometime after producing a 100% video guide of Nightmare difficulty Q2, I thought I should try and speedrun it on Easy first because you don't die too easily.
For a while I have been getting times around the 33-35 minute mark. This run is very close to a sub 31 milestone and the first good run I've done. It's far from flawless as there's spots I struggled to execute a certain trick (hey lv 5 rocket jump) but practice makes perfect in the end and safety habits makes me pickup more rockets than necessary as I don't even use them at all afterwards.
One of the main differences Easy has over Nightmare for 100% secrets is that there's 1 less secret in level 6 (Unit 2, stage 2) as both the switch and Quad Damage powerups are not there in the room where you place the 3rd explosive.
Played on PC so that nearly every weapon is I want to select is easy to reach.

Q: The movement looks very casual compared to other Quake 2 speedruns why is that?
A: The N64 map pack has disabled crouching, strafe jumping and has a delayed jump mechanic so that you cannot jump immediately after touching the ground.
There's a few movement tricks that still work including:
circle jumping,
damage boosting,
zig-zagging
and wall running.
Q: You pickup certain items for no good reason are you playing too safe?
A: The route isn't fully finalised and there's a sense of improvisation when doing these runs.
Though some of the item pickups are required to be collected in order to spawn the extra bad guys to reach 100% kills.
Q: Level 17 (Unit 5, stage 7) I can only find 1 secret, where is the other?
A: The adrenaline pickup next to the Icarus spawn near the twisty staircase IS a secrets trigger but the text never pops up, this oddity occurs in the original N64 version too.
