When Peter mentioned his conflict of interest it all went south. Ian should have seen the opportunity and asked if he could get a meeting rather than competing in such a cornered market. He could have earned a valuable partner to license or sell the tech.

Richard Farley said what I'd been thinking from the start. Cool technology, but why bind it up in a music retail website that doesn't stand much chance in the crowded market, when you could just licence the software to other companies? It’s really interesting watching all these pre-iPhone era videos with ideas that seem very old and out of date nowadays.

10 years later and still nobody has heard of his website. Theo and Deborah probabaly lost money on this. Richard would've made millions.

This is quite an old pitch but just look at this market now ! If all automix software came from this stable then this man would now be extremely rich 🤠

Richard was right! Anything else than licensing was foolish.

And every DJ software can do this now. Around that time, Serato was gaining big traction in the DJ market - having a licensing deal with them or Virtual DJ would have been the way forward... This guy should have actually listened to Richard!

What's really interesting about this otherwise pedestrian website is the middle out compression algorithm.

Debra (and quickly Theo blindly went along) only got interested at the end as soon as Peter declared conflict in interest as his already involved in the similar business but this entrepreneur seems like a smashing guy to work with. Good luck to him. Hope he does well.

This was about 15 years ago. I have never heard of this guy nor his music products. Did this tank? Does anyone have an update?
@jimson3785

It didn't tank, but it wasn't very successful. His product is now focused on aerobics classes instead of the music industry. I'm sure he makes enough money to pay his bills from it, but It's unfortunate because if he had went with Richard and followed his advice to license it, he would be a multi millionaire by now.
