I miss watching the unorthodox backhand shots of Ramy Ashour. They were so awesome, explosive, accurate, unpredictable and with great timing. Oddly they even seemed energy efficient. They seemed to incorporate strong, relaxed and explosive elbow coordination, explosive forearm rotational power, hand speed/quickness, relaxed but stable finger grip strength along with good shoulder hip separation. It was fun, electrifying to watch. With Ramy always battling injuries it was like watching the injured never say die lion mustering every thing possible to take on the world. Now Mohamed is the aging battle weary lion trying to get back to the top. He will need to develop a more energy efficient, clever and unorthodox dimension to his backhand to play long matches with Farag, Coll and other top players.
