I also should’ve added that they dominate as soloist, too. All are in the military (mandatory in Korea). First comes back in June. They will all have completed mandatory service by June 2025 and we are READY for the next group album.

BTS is known for having double, tripled, and quadruple layers to their songs meanings. RM in particular is considered a poet-rapper inspired by Nas. But he can also use that eloquence, quick wit, and word play to crush people who come at him. His song Joke requires translation videos to cover all the burns and Korean idioms he crammed into that song. It is a clap back at those who put him down for going from underground to above ground music. To date, no rapper has responded

Don't expect all kpop to be like BTS (RM's group). They have obliterated the old mold of kpop and the other groups are running to catch up. They started at a small, bankrupting label and the first two members were underground rappers. At that time, kpop was very hierarchical and if you came from a small company you were considered D list. If you came from a big company, you were pretty much guaranteed success. BTS had to scrap for everything they had. The vast, vast majority of kpop rappers are only mimicking the aesthetic, whereas BTS were students of hiphop and its roots.

RM initially stood for Rap Monster if that you gives you any idea of this man's scope.

This album is under the "alternative" genre. I personally can not wait to see what the rest of the album will bring.

I love this song so much, connected with me on a deep level... but just to let you know RM is usually a rapper, and he can RAP rap. I recommend his songs 'Joke' and 'Do You' for example. I would also highly recommend Intro Persona - it's a BTS track - but an RM solo. You reacted to On the Street already - that's a jhope track that JCole was on. Jhope just released a new album a couple months ago, I would highly recommend checking out Neuron - it's the title track. So, first comment. I enjoyed you vibing to RM. A little info about K-pop, then RM. Keeping in mind my knowledge of K-pop is limited (coming from the southside of Chicago, LOL), but my knowledge of RM is…you don’t have enough time to hear me talk about him. So short version. 😂 K-pop is an industry, not a genre. It’s about the clothes, looks, style, dance, storytelling, etc., as much as it is about music. It covers all genres, too. You will find, R&B, Rap, what we know as Pop, etc. So, RM, real name is Kim Namjoon (you will also find his older solo music listed under Rap Monster). This song is a pre-release for his next album coming May 24, “Right Place Wrong Person.” It’s also his first journey into Indie music. He’s branching out and trying new things under his solo albums. I’m saying solo, because RM is part of the group BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondon). BTS has 3 rappers and 4 vocalist. RM is one of the rappers and the Leader of the group. But leader more like what you would think of as a team captain in sports. All 7 of the members are EXTREMELY talented. As a group they dominate world charts and award shows (yes, even in the U.S.). Their fanbase is called. A.R.M.Y. And we run deep. LOL, fair warning. Because most are great people, but there are always a few bad apples in every bunch. Not to mention a few fakes trying to stir the pot. Anyway. “Come Back to Me” is a vibe, and not his usual style. Although, I’m not quite sure I can say he HAS a particular style anymore. He hooked me with his rap skills, though, and his ability to flow from Korean to English and back seamlessly. Bonus for your almost knowing one of his group members songs… JCole did a song with Jhope (of BTS) called “On The Streets”. Try out RM’s “Still Life” (from his last album), Moonchild (from Mono), and Monster (no music video, from his first mixtape). You will see the growth and variety. For BTS rap line try out: Outre Tear (RM has 1st verse, then Suga (think shooting guard), then Jhope finishes). Or, “Ugh”, Suga’s up first, then RM and Jhope closes out. For more “traditional” K-pop try Mic Drop, Fake Love, or Blood Sweat and Tears. Or try them all. Be surprised. The vocalist hit hard, too. Jin, Jimin, V, and JungKook. (And yes.
