Rodney, I want to compliment you on your awesome diction - you speak amazingly clearly, with no um's or ah's. I also feel that you phrased the rules in the exact minimum time required for me to get a full understanding, which is great. As the guy who usually gets nominated to read the rules for a new game and then explain it to everyone, I am humbled and inspired :)

I really like your clean videos - the camera is good quality, and your background of where you do your reviews is really nice and clutter-free, it's a nice refreshing change from having the stacks upon stacks of board games in the background. Well done, sir! Oh, and the reviews are good, too! ;)

It makes me so happy when I sit down to play a new game and find one of your videos on it. I may have to start going the other direction and only buy games for which you have done a How It's Played video. Darn you Rodney!!!! I already have a closet full of games. I don't need anymore cool games. Lol. While this is true. Keep up the good work. We all enjoy it and enjoy getting to find out if we'll really want that game BEFORE we spend the money on it. P.S. I haven't seen you demo Settlers of Catan. I know there are other vids out there on it already but I'm sure you have viewers who have just stuck to your channel because of the completely awesome job that you do. Also, I find that SOC is the perfect table top game to start none gamers off with. Easy and quick setup, easy to play(while still challenging too), great replay ability, plenty of expansions, and of course the most important, VERY VERY FUN TO PLAY. Even for someone who generally isn't into tabletop games.

Unlike a lot of gamers, Settlers of Catan wasn't my gateway game. It was probably more Carcassonne than anything else. I do have a copy of SoC, but I never get it to the table - if nothing else, you've reminded me that I should try to play this with the family.

Funny thing is "I" just played it that day too :) Did it remotely with a fellow viewer, worked really well over webcam.

great video !!! And I have a quesiton if I may: if I'm moving dice 5, can I move diagonally then left/right/up/down and then again diagonally? or do my entire move must be diagonally or adjacent?

You can move diagonally and/or orthogonaly.

Rodney, a quick question. Once a frigate has been changed to either a "3" or a "5", it does not once again turn back into a 4 at the end of the turn, allowing it to use the ability next turn, does it? You did not state that it did, but just wanted clarification as to whether the change was permanent or not.

Nice video! Between you and The Dice Tower, I now want to buy this game. That is, only if I could play solo. Since only dice and "random" cards are used (no hidden cards, secrets, etc), then I assume you can play this solo (and any other game with random dice and random cards). Is this true?

Any solo rules for this would be a variant - so it possibly could work, but I've never tried to play this solo.

+Watch It Played thanks for advice. Some of my favorite games can be played solo (FUSE, Wrath of Ashardalon, Dungeon Roll, Dragon Slayer) It seems like any game that relies on luck (dice and cards) with no hidden rules can be played solo. I could be wrong, but I see a trend there. Thanks again!

Question. Just bought and on first game my one planet had all other player ships on it and my Ships all in scrapyard as they all attacked me first and won so how do I put my ship down from scrapyard if they hold all 4 orbital positions on my only (starter) planet? Thanks in advance. Great video

+Brent Williams In that rare case, I don't think you'd be able to deploy ships as your actions, you'd need to do something else and wait for them to leave.

If any die are loaded on top of a 2 can those 2 dice then be warped together to another sector by a 3 and then the 2 continues its move/attack before using its special ability? Or can 2 dice not be warped at once by storing it in the flagship before warping

An interesting idea, but no, they cannot. As the rules book explains - "The TRANSPORT ability of the Flagship and the MANEUVER ability of the Interceptor are used as the ship is taking its MOVE or MOVE/ATTACK action.". It also says "You cannot change a ship number in the middle of moving that ship" as well as "you can't use a ship ability in the middle of a move or move/attack". You need to finish transporting before you can warp.

I finally got my copy from the US. But when I opened it I noticed the dice are a little sticky. I think by cleaning them they will be alright, but I was wondering if you had the same problem with your copy of the game.

I bought a revised edition of the game and it didn't come with any of the sheets you showed with the map configuration suggestions. Any idea if these were eliminated from revised editions or if this is a fluke?

The MSRP is $56, but I suspect you will find it online and possibly in game stores for less than $40.

hmm... sounds fun... but... question. you said you may ignore enemy ships to construct a cube... but do you have to?

You don't have to construct a cube, but whoever gets rid of your cubes first is the winner. So if you can take the action, you should.

Right - it perhaps would have been more clear to say "you ignore enemy ships", and leave out the word "can"

You'll find it covered just around 6:35 in the video, but in brief, once you get to 6, you reset the die to 1 and get to automatically place a Quantum cube on any empty space, anywhere on the map.

It's unfortunate. Luckily I still have my copy. If you want to play it online, there is an implementation for it on BGA.
