In QL Lore, Kids, Animals & People with non-standard brain waves can see Al. Young children can see Al in several episodes, as can the patients in 'Shock Theater' and several animals along the way. The girl could also see Sam as Sam.

Yeah, it's revealed children under 5 can see All and Sam for who he really is. The girl was 4 years old, so she just barely made the cut.
