Wonderful talk and interaction. An odd sequence of events led me to watch this today. Reminds me of David Bohm and the interconnectedness of all things.

The number one problem that critically needs a solution is finding a new and novel “source of energy”. The plasma state of water offers a probability as a new realization as one. Lightning gives us an insight into the future potential of this. The temperatures are only in the 10k,s K opposed to the Tokamak’s million’s of degrees K. This “lightning-in-bottle” should be easily solvable.

Two top notch science communicators getting together! Good stuff. It seems to me that more can be done with the theory of how mass arises, in the standard model. Could we substitute "identity" for mass, so a personal identity arises from activity in a field, if the mind could be considered a weak field? The entirety of reality as we perceive it likened to a picture on a tv screen, that's the analogue world, with the digital or quantum underlying this? Two worlds for the price of one. Identity seems not to require the solidity of the reality picture in the human head, that is, the sense data. The sense data make up the weak field in the head and identity is the product of that field perhaps. Doesn't this change the hard problem question, if the observer is assigned in an emergent process? Of course, if consciousness is merely heightened awareness, and awareness itself was a fundamental force...is this the digital "being" underlying this analogue world? Imagine the very early universe as quantum particles (part of a quantum 'being') moving oddly enough* in a sort of billiard table universe with no mass or being as we know it. Now see the field arising and those same hapless particles caught up in the 'ground', to which they now have being and are stuck to like flypaper. Only when entropy releases the grip on that quantum being can 'it' drift on thru inter universal space. Humans are a single entity that is digitized in order to experience more. That experience is the valuable thing, since it creates the next field in which something, some identity unknown to us and unknowable, will emerge. In the time scale involved, this has probably already happened. Cheers. *This quantum particle moving like billiard balls (without mass of course) and the reality we see, which is from oscillations in fields and has more of what we think about as quantum movement, is a very peculiar inverse thing. It's possible that all we see is patterns coming from a blend of two elements, the periodic and aperiodic, and this is the two basic elements of our universe, the digital and analogue, the stuff our brains evolved to do with. If birds in a flock achieve heightened awareness thru sound (and thru being 'digitized') then this is what our brains evolved to do in a portable, more defined package.
