Quebec is an amazing city, there is nothing like it in North America. July and August are the best months to visit if you like it warm. At the end of September, you'll get the fall's colors and amazing landscapes. Forget January it's the coldest month of the year.

Someone from the US asked me my nationality. I responded "French Canadian" ....( I prefer Quebecois) He responded "What's a French Canadian?" I said "What do you mean?" He had no idea what I meant. He said are you a French person who moved to Canada?..........i had to explain to him that the Province of Quebec is French. I gave him a condensed quick history lesson. He looked like a deer in the headlights. He had no idea what I was talking about. Very sad.

@@rebeccagraves2878 Well, I always said "Merci " which means Thank you in French. I said Merci after ordering and receiving food at restaurants for example. But majority of people know English in Quebec City, so you will be fine. My mom knows French, so she did a lot of communicating which intrigued people and I think they liked that. But I also know people who have visited Quebec City and don't speak French at all and they still were treated well.

It is a wonderful city with much history, elegance and great cuisine. It helps to speak some French, as English not as widely spoken as in Montreal. The Montmorency Falls and the fjord to the north are worth taking in. In winter, the Winter Carnival with its Ice Bar and Ice Hotel are worth taking in, too. Many Americans do not travel this far Northeast, but it is a great slice of Europe sans the flight. Try to stY in a French inn or boutique hotel, and try to have a meal, drink or high tea at Chateau Frontenac. Just gazing at Rivier St Laurent on a lazy afternoon is magnificent as well. J'aime beaucoups le ville du Quebec!

When the world is coming together why are there still people who want to be seperate. I live in the UK and it is one island which has three countries. England, Wales and Scotland. Each country is completely different from each other but we are united and are able to move around the island freely doing trade, etc. If we were three seperate countries it would make life difficult especially for the two smaller countries of Wales 5 million and Scotland 5 million compared to Engand which has 54 million. England is connected to France/Paris by the Eurotunnel which makes trade with Europe even easier for England than it was before so if Wales and Scotland wanted Independence that new trade route/tourism etc may not be so accessible this is just one example of many

The province of Quebec was the first of the four original provinces that initiated the confederation in July 1, 1867. How will this province brake off from Canada if they are the forefathers of this nation and more importantly, they are surrounded by Canadian provinces and territories and they are using the Canadian currency?

This is Montreal's smaller sibling from same French and American Parents. very scenic city with so much to see. French architecture reins supreme in this un-assuming city.

American parents? As a Canadian this is offensive. Canada is not founded by America. It is founded by the British and the French.

It looks like a very peaceful place to live, but I'm sure winter and the areas they avoided also play a role in that image. Expedia even made St. Louis look nice.

Québec city is actually a very beautiful city and if you like outdoor activities (hiking, kayak, mountain bike, road bike, etc.) there are stunning places all around the city. At about an hour from the city, you also have Charlevoix which is also very beautiful, and the city isn't too far from the Fjord du Saguenay which is another wonderful place

Are Americans welcomed in Quebec City? Update: I took my family To Quebec city for three days… And we had a great time. Everyone was super friendly… and most spoke English as well as French. We stayed in the old part of town and it was breathtakingly beautiful. The food was delicious. Everything was great. We had the best time… Would definitely visit again.

I've heard same thing because god forbid you dont know french they treat you like garbage or ignore you. Here's the thi g a youtuber smt mainline he lives in Quebec dont know much french and his family speaks English.. I have also been told that when they come to the United States they expect to have things in French for them but yet they wouldn't do the same for us

I'm from Quebec and our province has the most cultural diversity. A lot of people from different countries are moving to Quebec. Black people, asians, etc. Most people in Quebec nowadays can talk to you in both french or english so you should be just fine :) Racism is mostly present in the older generation. The elders are less keen on strangers, but we're nice I promise!
