I get angry with people who say Adam can't replace Freddie. Freddie was unique in his voice and talent, and so is Adam unique in his. Adam will honor Freddie and the band Queen in the most honest way possible. He makes it possible to continue the music as it should be continued. It would be so very unfortunate to lose the music that Queen brought to us.

I saw Freddy and Queen live in Montreal Canada back in the 1970s. Amazing. Brian May has said in interviews that he sometimes forgets to play because he is in such awe of Adam’s vocals. Wow that says it all.

Thank you for a positive reaction I am 82 yrs old so I have been around for a lot of great singer ,legendsnow and I became a fan of Adam on Idol and have followed him even to Queen . I was not a fan of any rock group but I am now a fan of Queen/Adam Lambert and went to my first concert in Dallas at the age of 79 so I could see them in person, WOW what a fantastic electric show

I think Adam is doing an amazing job with Queen. He's obviously not Freddie, but that's the thing, he's not trying to be. He's doing his own thing and also paying tribute to him and giving Brian and Roger a way to continue being on stage and do what they love. ❤

I am also a lifelong Queen fan, and was always quite happy that Adam, who I already knew had an amazing voice, had taken on the role of Queen vocalist. I always felt he was capable of doing the songs justice withoit trying to be Freddie. And in many ways the original Freddie songs are the natural favourite and best. However I find myself returning to this performance over and over again as it is by far my favourite rendition of the song. The setting and the band worked together perfectly and Adam injected a level of emotion and power into the song on this performance that always gives me goosebumps and which I don't get on the same level from Freddie-era versions (although I do love them). To me it is as near to a "perfect" performance you will ever see

Roger Taylor has said that he knows no one who can out-sing Adam. At this particular performance both he and Brian was looking and listening to Adam - had never heard the song sung that way before. He was singing from his soul. Adam says in every single concert that he is not Freddie, he is just a fan of Freddie like everybody else, but he is lucky who are allowed to bring on his legacy - doing his best. I am going to see them next summer and I can hardly wait!

There are a lot of good singers in the world, when I hear them on my car radio they are basically noise as I drive, Adam is the exception, he feels his music and it make me feel the music. I am old 82 and I have heard a lot of music that does not make an impression on my psyche, could not tell you who was singing or what they were singing Adam gets my attention and I listen to him every day on my computer that I had to learn to operate for that purpose he has a lot of older people who follow him as well as younger because he does not sound like he is auto tuned and can't sing for crap live. we love him he is a keeper I went to my first ever concert at the age of 79 and saw Queen /Adam Lambert they were awesome. LONG MAY THEY REIGN.

I am a 72 yo female and by the way a Glambert. Adam appeals to ll ages and that's amazing. I am so glad he went on American Idol and was exposed to the nation and now the world. Queen and Adam is the best band in history. Queen has toured the world with our beloved Freddie and now with Adam. I am so happy GOD put them together. I pray that Adam has a long career and GOD protects his always.

I completely understand your feelings about Adam as frontman for Queen. When I saw him perform with Queen on American Idol I had no doubt that he could do it. I love that Adam is not trying to copy Freddie, but more to honor him and give his little twists. I think you'll enjoy rediscovering Queen. It had given me new appreciation for Freddie as well as grow my love for Adam.

Thank you for great review. Thanks for not comparing to Freddie like others do. He’s not trying to be Freddie. He deserves a fair Shake for being himself. I said the same thing you did “if Queen embraces him then who are we to say”. If queen is happy with him then that’s what matters. Thanks for review ! Subscribed !

After watching Adam on American Idol. His audition was Bohemian Rhapsody. He should have won AI. He was great on the show. Been following him since he started. Queen picked the right guy.
@nicky1985824
@nicky1985824 3 жыл бұрын
He absolutely should have won, he was much better than the other guy. But in my humble opinion him "losing" AI was fate or destiny or something akin to that. Had he won the comptetition he would have been contractually obliged to do what other people wanted and he might not had had the time and the opportunity to do this. I read a great quote that I think is quite fitting "When God gives you a "no", give him a "thank you". He was protecting you from less than his best." Not winning Ai was the best thing that could have happened to Adam, because it led him to the place where he belongs.

Adam has an amazing voice, and is also a superb showman... he knows how to command a stage and work an audience. That helps make him a perfect fit for singing with Queen. And they've done an outstanding job adapting to mesh so well with his vocal style. I was a big fan of his on American Idol and am still convinced that he should have won that season. Great performance, great reaction.

Cool to see this being reacted to. No words describe how spectacular the entire live show was. Every song was this good. Random fact: I’m the girl in the mermaid wig you see at the end with one of my beautiful bffs who was shining in gold. It was worth standing at the stage for 6 and a half hours before they started, to be front row. We cried like babies during that performance. I’m gay, it hit home. It was the most amazing tribute.

It was written for the Highlander movie (mid 80s, yes). Before Freddie was diagnosed with HIV, AFAIK. (After that, they still toured with the "A Kind of Magic" album, Freddie did the album with Monserrat Caballé, Queen did The Miracle, Innuendo and worked on more songs before he died.

Go to the Queen Live channel & listen to some of the Queen vs Queen + Adam Lambert videos. They probably wouldn't make good reaction videos because you really need to wear headphones to get the full effect. Pay special attention to Brian's riffs & Roger's drumming keeping in mind these were recorded decades apart. Adam definitely holds his own on stage with them.

Adam is a tenor, Freddie was a baritone. Different voices. Different vocal techniques (Freddie was untrained just as Johnny Cash was untrained). Different cultural backgrounds and life experiences. Just totally different people. But both great artists. I choose not to compare bc music lives when it is played live. And Adam helps bring Freddie's music to life and helps being this musical experience to new generations.

Agree! His live sessions for his new album Velvet are incredible. Adam always sings live, a testament to his phenomenal voice. “Closer To You” is an amazing performance. Also found one of him at a George Michael tribute singing “One More Try” where he likewise does an amazing job. But he sounds great no matter what he sings and there are countless concerts, performances, appearances and acoustic stuff all over KZfaq. For me he is just the best male vocalist of this generation.
