What an epic performance! Well the time has come. After many requests I decided to bite the bullet and this. My 3rd reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody! I love music that pushes the envelop. That`s what hiphop does! Queen really do not follow the status quo. LOVE IT!

===============================================================================
Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1971, and one of the most commercially successful musical acts of all time. The group originally consisted of Freddie Mercury, (lead vocals), Brian May (lead guitar, vocals), John Deacon (bass guitar), and Roger Taylor (drums, vocals). Queen's initial works were chiefly glam rock, heavy metal and progressive rock orientated, however with time the band incorporated diverse and innovative styles in their music, exploring the likes of vaudeville, electronic music and funk. The band digressed from using progressive themes in their music in the mid-1970s, with more conventional and radio-friendly works bringing them greater success. Throughout the 1970s, Queen disclosed the absence of synthesisers on their albums, yet their style continued to evolve. They eventually started using synthesisers in the 1980s, reflecting their experimental approach to music.
"Bohemian Rhapsody" it was written by Freddie Mercury for the band's 1975 album A Night at the Opera. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is in the style of a stream-of-consciousness nightmare that has an unusual song structure, more akin to a classical rhapsody than popular music. The song has no chorus, instead consisting of three main parts including a ballad segment, an operatic passage, and a heavy rock solo. Because of its ambiguous style and arrangement, the song is rarely classified by the band or critics under a particular genre of music, however when done so it is usually described as a rock opera piece.
Queen Rock Montreal is a live album by English band Queen. It was released in 2007 as a double CD / triple vinyl on 28 October in Australia, 29 October in Europe, and 30 October in the US.
It was recorded in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at the Montreal Forum on 24 November and 25 November 1981, ten years to the date before lead singer Freddie Mercury died of complications related to AIDS.
This marks the first official release of the film soundtrack to the concert film We Will Rock You on an audio-only format.

A little background: Freddie, no singing lessons, degree in graphic art, designed Queen Crest Brian May made the Red Special with his father, uses a coin as his pick and has a Ph.D in astrophysics, Worked for NASA Roger Taylor started out studying dentistry and switched to biology. Plays the drums while singing, amazing voice. John Deacon, degree in electronically engineering and created the Deaky amp. No ordinary band. Perfectionists,all. The all wrote no. 1 hits. Timeless legends. Freddie for me is the best frontman of all time. Watch the documentary of One Vision. Great insight into how they created. Love your reactions.

Knowing how far you've come with Queen, it's quite entertaining to go back to your early Queen reactions, watch you get your mind blown, and to hear how many times you say you are not a Queen fan. I think at this point, I'm convinced that everyone is a Queen fan, they just might not know that they are a Queen fan and it remains fascinating to watch that transition of consciousness. ha ha you mention the guy in the front not 'bopping his head' well, its been said that the Montreal crowd didn't get up, or dance and it was frustrating Freddie and he was starting to get a bit angry. at the beginning of one of the songs, he tells them its ok if they want to get up and dance or move their a$$es are you kidding me?! who goes to a Queen concert and sits down? not me. i saw them in August 1982 - best freaking concert ever!! anyways thought i would share that bit of fun fact for you. thanks for reacting to this, can never go wrong with BoRhap. rock on

Thank you for taking the time to drop a comment. Yes that guy on the right was really trying hard to move, literally froze like a robot. I wish they would have told the film makers to sod off! Let the fans react how they want to react. It`s your problem to make sure the final film is up to standard. Otherwise, let`s hire in new film makers. #musicfirst

Karen C The concert directors told the crowd NOT to get up and scream, dance and shout 😰 and it did make the band mad. Stupid directors, they soon saw the fruits of their requests when Freddie changes his outfits from first night to the next after they told them to wear the same clothes!🤣Thus the tiny microscopic white shorts were born!!!!

To really understand Queen, you have to know they loved to laugh, and they never took themselves too seriously. The music they took very seriously, they faught over every note sometimes. They were 4 brilliant musicians and 4 brilliant songwriters who are all in both the Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as Rock's Hall of Fame. You should check out some old interviews and old documentaries of the guys, to really appreciate why they covered all genres of music. They were hands down voted the greatest live band. Please react to Somebody To Love at the Montreal 1981 concert. Oh, and the concert was being filmed. The film makers asked the crowd to stay in their seats and not move around much. It pissed off the band, big time. If you watch the whole concert, you'll notice Freddie telling the crowd it's ok to get up and dance.

This song is written by Freddie and it's a Masterpiece. Freddie did actually have 3 songs but he combined it and this is what came out of it. Freddie said either it's gonna be a big flop or one of the biggest hits. He took the risk. The reason I say risk is because at that time of recording they didn't have much money for the Band, if the album A Night at The Opera (where Bohemian rhapsody is in) if it wouldn't have been such a success they would have to break up. But thankfully everything seemed to work. Brian May used his Guitar as his Voice so yeah the Red Special has his own Lyrics :D Brian build his Guitar with his Dad when he was 16 and they build it out of random stuff they found at his home. The Guitar is called Red Special and there is no Guitar in the World that sounds like it, you can always notice by just hearing if it is a normal E Guitar or The Red Special. Brian was a Singer so he actually sang, but his Guitar sang with them together too. The way you can notice that Roger holds the Tempo on Drums so great is by Combining 2 whole Different Nights of Queen performing this song, There is a ''mashup'' from 2 nights and on some parts both are out of the beat but for more than a half of the whole Video the beat stays the Same from 2 completely different nights the video doesn't even have a edit in it so that also shows how Roger could hold the Beat. Roger is a fantastic Drummer and also Singer. I remind you that at the Opera part (9:13) all the High notes in there that sounds like a Girl it is just Roger Taylor the Drummer. at 9:21 do you hear that high *VERY VERY FRIGHTENING ME* that was for example Roger. I would just request *_Queen Live at the Rainbow (1974) - In the Lap of the Gods_* because it is an Amazing performance of them all Again and how they play their instruments together on that sounds just Beautiful, then in the middle of the performance Roger does the most amazing background vocals ever.

I heard that, and played it back. It is very discrete, but yes it`s certainly there. Well done for picking that up. Also thanks for also complementing me on noticing the drums! The guitar to me felt as if it "spoke" and breathed life into the song! Like a dragon spreading his flames across the dry deserted woodlands. To ignite it, into an all mighty fire. Perhaps I am over exaggerating. Oddly, I picked up more nuances this time round. I shall be getting around to more Queen reactions, thank you for taking the time to drop a comment and making a request (Queen Live at the Rainbow (1974) - In the Lap of the Gods).

@@HAP3SPEAKZ Thanks for reading my comment I always write such fact comments. I mostly stand up for the Drummer because he is in the background so much. The Guitar (Red Special) is really like it had Life. Brian May the owner and creator of it says that too. He even showed that by just touching the strings without doing anything it would make a certain special sound. He also used that sound that it made in some of Queens songs if you are Reacting to a Queen song that has the "breathing" of The Red Special then I'm gonna tell you so you know how it sounds like.

The reason why the guitar sounds so special because Brian May´s guitar is unique. He built him by himself togehter with his father when he was young. The guitar is called Red Special, you have to read abiut that fact, its crazy. Its the most legendary guitar in rock history if you ask me. No one else played a guitar that was built by the actual guitar player.

As you know they recorded 2 concerts in Montreal in 1981 November 24 and 25 , this particular perfomance is from the 24 November, there is no recording of Bohemian Rhaposdy from the 25 November show, what I am mean is there is no footage or recording in circulation from that show. Only Queen Productions have the audio of Bohemian Rhaposdy from second night, but most likely won't release it. Although in the Official release of Montreal some of rhe perfomances are from the second night and first night.

Great reaction! A great guitar player will use their guitar as a voice, that is often how Brian May describes it. A guitar can make a lot of sounds like a voice, just as an example a guitar also has vibrato. Brian May has some of the best guitar vibrato, and Freddie Mercury has one of the most interesting vibratos in his voice. I like your discussion at the start and at the end, popular music is often a snapshot about what is happening at the moment. But some music can transcend that time and moment, Queen has a lot of timeless music, not every single thing but there are definitely a few songs. Yes, Queen did what they wanted, they made music that they wanted to make. Unlike most popular artist who gets a lot of pressure from record labels and mangers, Queen never had this problem. They basically just did whatever they wanted. Queen did metal as well, they have a few metal songs, they even created the first thrash metal song. Metallic has done a cover of the song. Stone Cold Crazy kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ip6CmcVir9rRmZc.html. Funny how you admitted that you where not a Queen fan, it is simply because you didn't know a lot of their music. lol This might be interesting to you, another good performance is Queen's very first performance Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975, they made a medley out of it, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fLx_aaWJ37_Rno0.html. Another great classical song that you have to react to is Who Wants To Live Forever, the studio and the live version are a bit different but both are great, this is the live version at Wembley Friday night 1986, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7WYqK5oxsDFqas.html.

I had to put that in as a disclaimer. I shall not pretend to know how deep Queen were nor name all the individual band members by the zodiac signs. I have a deep appreciation for music and I am now holding Queen with much more respect. Both in music and what did to the music scene. As I venture into their music, I am welcomed into a world of exploration and experience of sounds. I can see how they influenced many of the sounds we hear today. For example "Seven Nation Army". I have noted your suggestions. Thank you. 👍🏽💜

thanks, Hap - I saw Queen several times in late seventies as a teenager (yep - I'm old - and even met the band once briefly - all charming and funny) - I think you are a little off-track (perhaps because you're not a "Queen Fan") - about them putting that last segment in to prove that they "could do rock" -- if you WERE a Queen fan, you would be aware of some of their earlier work - particularly from the first album -- if you want to ROCK - and if you have time and interest - check out, first of all "Brighton Rock" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eLukkpqFtqm7pIk.html - (there is also a live version, but that could be a bit much...) - are you a drummer? Or guitarist? (or both?)

@HAP3SPEAKZ 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gin. That must have been a great privilege to have seen them in person. How very lucky!! And I'm also jealous. Haha. Ok so my reference to "they could do rock" was a complement. They proved in this song they could encompass the commercial side of music and make their own style of music. It was more like they were having fun and taking risks. Yet showcasing their ability to appeal to the mass public in this particular song. Keep in mind Bohemian Rhapsody was the only song I knew by Queen. Aside from a few others like underpressure and we are the champions. So BoRaps was a song that crossed over into my world 🌎 and was probably a nice way for a non Queen fan to enter their world of music. Since it has very intriguing sounds. What made you ask if I was a drummer 🥁or guitarist🎸? I did study popular music production as a minor during my time at university🎛. Hehe I personally don't play those instruments, however I do have a general sense of them. When I did production work in the studio, I realized how hard things were to get the right sound. The level of work needed post production was horrific but it was worth it. Later in life, I can appreciate the deeper surface of music as opposed to the simple surface level. Well at least I like to think I do 😅😅.

@@HAP3SPEAKZ Hey, Hap - thanks for your very thoughtful and comprehensive response -- I thought you might be a drummer or guitarist because I saw your rhythm-based reaction, and paid attention to your comments about "rock" -- in fact, it was Bo Rap that cemented my fascination with the group - before that I had heard "Killer Queen" - saw video on "Saturday Night Special" - but it was only when Night at the Opera was released that I became deeply entranced! My BFF was in love with Freddie - and I with Brian - it was the perfect bonding platform for two teens -- and especially b/c our mid-western small-town HS peers mocked and jeered about how we were so obsessed with this "gay band" -- ha - I suppose after all these years, Queen hits, and the movie, perhaps some of them have realized how long ago they "missed the bus" - looking forward to more of your reactions -- not just Queen - but any cool tunes -- thanks again!
