2 жыл бұрынElizabeth Alexandra Mary (April 21, 1926 - September 8, 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in Mayfair, London, as the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth). Her father ascended the throne in 1936 upon the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, making Elizabeth the heir presumptive. She was educated privately at home and began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In November 1947, she married Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she had four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
When her father died in February 1952, Elizabeth-then 25 years old-became queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon, as well as Head of the Commonwealth.
On April 9, 2021, after over 73 years of marriage, her husband, Prince Philip, died at the age of 99. Elizabeth died almost a year and a half later, on September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, at the age of 96, and was succeeded by her eldest child, King Charles III. Her state funeral was the first to be held in the United Kingdom since that of Winston Churchill in 1965.
Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-lived and longest-reigning British monarch, the longest-serving female head of state in history, and the oldest and longest-serving incumbent head of state. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest verified reign of any female monarch in history.

She literally rebuilt Britain from the scratch. It isn't anyone's choice to be born rich. If you think it's easy then go and be a King let's see if you would do any better.

It's weird to think that my grandad was a kid during her coronation. He was in a carnival float dressed as a navy officer, next to a pretend queen. He actually grew up to join the royal navy, then the royal Coast guard. Sadly, he passed away this year, and we still have our Queen. He has always been proud of our Queen, he would have been chuffed to see her jubilee this year. Long live the Queen

Except the fact that she ruled so long, she is an example of a sovereign who ruled with consistency and she kept a calm line between the royals and the state, she was clever in never ruffling feathers unneccessarily, her success in ruling so long was her calm discipline.... And at the end of it she was a mother and grandmother who knew she had to keep the monarchy together because so many sovereigns were dethroned by their own people. QE2 knew how to keep her people and the monarchy loyal to each other.

This video completely broke me down. It's just occurred to me, I've watched HM change over the years. HM has always been beautiful and gracious. However, it just struck me how definite HM is. There are some photos where HM, even as a little girl, was so expressive but, has this aura as if she understands things to a deeper level than the rest of us. I really have to hand it to HM. HM has been a source of pride for many people. How lucky we are to have HM. RIP to Prince Philip. A rare breed indeed.
