Brian said that he wrote this song for Freddie because he knew how Freddie could “sell” it. 👌 That’s one thing that made Freddie such a great singer: he could embody the spirit of any kind of song. ❤️

@@tenchraven Pretty much. Freddy wasn't straight or gay. He wasn't homosexual or bisexual. He was omnisexual. He loved everybody. From the fat bottomed girls to the killer queens. From the poor boys from poor families to the princes of the universe. And every time he sang it was a love letter to us all.. "I see you out there. I know you're going through something rough. But no matter what I love you. Even if no one else does, I do." is what came through every note and every performance.

The greatest part of this song, in my opinion, was the glorification of curvier figures at a time when the media was beginning to push a nearly impossible body type. This song came out in 1978, while the average size of women was increasing and the media began to heavily feature dangerously thin waistlines. Queen was WAY ahead of their time in the idea of self-love and self-acceptance.

Yeah, I'm more forgiving with the person writing "dirty ladies", instead of "lardy ladies" (since "lardy" is a pretty out-dated word), but I'd think everybody would recognize the phrase "ride em, cowboy."

Just love your reactions Jamel... You certainly are a character and never stuck for words, but love your often surprised face. Why not ty another Queen song (think it was their first hit in the UK back in '73). The opening is incredible and then right at the end.. Well, that's for you to find out... All I'm saying is it'll raise your eyebrows! Keep up the great work. Highly enjoyable in these difficult times

I love the way you responded to this classic Queen track , your enjoyment was real . Freddie was born Farrokh Bulsara [known as Freddie Bulsara ] in Stone Town , Zanzibar , Africa . His Parents were both Indian . Freddie is still loved and missed , and yes, those of us who were lucky enough to live through the 70'S and 80's know exactly what this song is about and love it !

American music was exported to Britain. The British bands reinterpreted it and repatriated back to America. There is a symbiotic relationship between American and British music. American music is enriched by it's British cousin's re-imaginings of it both texturally and symphonically.

Love your channel bro! You always put a smile on my face when you do a song reaction! The album this song comes from is called Jazz. I have the original vinyl version which included a fold out poster of a couple of dozen naked women getting ready to ride their bicycles. As one of your other posters mentioned, the songs Bicycle Race and Fat Bottom Girls are indeed back to back on the album.

YES! Queen kills it every time. Freddie’s vocals are always outstanding. PLEASE can you do a reaction (or just listen) to ‘Cool Cat.’ It’s a great song. I’ve not seen anyone react to it before, maybe because it’s not a single. It’s from the album ‘Hot Space.’ Very different and I think it’s fantastic. Hope you enjoy it💜
