The 'I can't be bothered' attitude forms no part of British tradition! She's had a few good ones since 2002, but generally they've been uninspired. My favorites are from the late 60s through the 70s, esp. that Egyptian number from the Prince of Wales' investiture (1969); also the Duke of Windsor's funeral (1972), Princess Anne's wedding (1973), opening of the Olympics in Montreal (1976)--the best ones, and you could see her face!

I agree the Queen does more than anyone could possibly imagine. How many individuals does the U.S. have that has been the head of state for over half a century? The Qeen is more then a symbol of the once all powerful empire of England but a figure which many could'nt bare one day to pose. For someone to say that the Queen does nothing is trying to make the Queen look totally irrelevant with a Constitutional Monarchy. They should educate themselves , instead of acting a fool.

But every PM this country has had in the last 60 years has been grateful for her non political advice and her huge knowledge of world affairs. She has seen more than any other Statesman or woman and the PM of the day is more than grateful to have her advice. But in the end it is the PM that runs the country NOT the Queen. She serves.
