You REALLY, REALLY need to check out the live version of “Somebody To Love” from the 1981 Montreal concert. Queen usually changed up songs in their live performances since it is difficult to recreate the studio version but also they wanted their fans to have a true show when they performed live.

Live version to do is LIVE FROM MONTREAL 1981 the snippets of a concert you see in this video are from their concert at Hyde Park in 1976 and ironically this song wasn't written then and so they're performing a different song and the 'splicer' did a spectacular job especially when Freddie is walking in his black leotard and throws his right arm out straight (perfectly timed to the beat of this song). 😍❤😎

Often cited as best ever live rock performance (was televised by satellite to estimated worldwide audience of some 1.9 billion and performed live at Wembley to over 72,000 at the stadium and by live link to Philadelphia to 90,000 there. This is Freddie's favorite song. He wrote it with Aretha Franklin in mind. He worshipped her. Kuddos to Roger Taylor the drummers major high notes. He always sang backup in concert wit Freddie.

This was Freddie's gospel tribute to Aretha Franklin who he really admired, he always had wanted to do a song with her. Sadly, he passed before that happened but he gave us this fantastic song so it's all good. As amazing as this studio version of this song is, the Live at Montreal 1981 performance will curl your toes. Queen is at their best live and I will generally say if you have a choice, go with the live. The exception is Bohemian Rhapsody because there is so much multi-tracking on that song that the studio version is really the best, particularly for a first time listen. I think you will also love White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1985 and You Take My Breath Away live at Hyde Park. Those two songs really show off Freddie's vocal chops and also his instrumental skills. Thank you for this reaction.

Total package in a band that’s rarely seen these days. Freddie Mercury on vocals and piano, Brian May on guitar, John Deacon on base and Roger Taylor on drums. A four-man band. There’s another band from Canada by the name of Rush you need to listen to it’s just three friends and how they make the sound that they make is unbelievable with just three guys. “Working Man“ “Tom Sawyer“ “2112“ And the list goes on Rush is a three man power band.

Somebody to love was written precisely surrounding his trouble with losing Mary due to his sexual desires. He loved Mary to ends of the earth and was left lost by sexual desires. It’s a truly sad story. He never forgot Mary and always looked out for her. Even leaving her his estate. Claiming nobody understood him like she did. His first and only true love. Can’t say that about many gay men. He wasn’t bisexual he was gay.

In my opinion the best version is from Milton Keynes ( pronounced keens) it's very underused from 1982 it's a better concert altogether than the 1981 Montreal as the group enjoyed it more, without the restrictions for their fans from the security as happened in the 1981 concerts in Montreal

Please react to either or both of these songs. One is by Brenda Lee called "If You Go Away" release on the album "Johnny One Time" in 1969. Very emotional and beautifully sung.
