I discovered the enjoyment of classical music myself only recently and find the fact of its spanning 1500 years of human evolution staggering. There is so much more of the development of our human culture and societies attached to this music than mere music alone. Thanks for taking the time to get us involved. Hoping you had a good 2021 New Years celebration. 🥳

Interesting! In the Marek biography I am reading on Beethoven, apparently Frederick (?) was musical...In the summer of 1796 Beethoven visited Berlin. He stayed there for two months in June and July. The current Prussian king Frederick William II was a music enthusiast (played cello) and supporter of musicians. ,,How interesting about Victoria having contact with Clara Schumann and Berlioz. David Cairns has written 2 biography/novels about Berlioz. I read the first one and it was amazing. The second I gave up pretty quickly.

This by far was my favorite episode of Classical chats. I have always been fascinated by Queen Victoria and her love for the romantic era and it's composers. I have been a lifelong fan, lover and scholar off all things Mendelssohn and his family. Having Gaby Fields speak about Victoria's comments on the composers she met was so informative and enjoyable. I have read many Mendelssohn biographies and he mentions his meetings with the Queen and Albert as well. I found it amusing that Victoria did not care for Berlioz, Mendelssohn gave his critique of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique as "utterly loathsome" and that's the very edited and short versions of his critique. I find it wonderful that Gaby is so passionate about her research. I'd love to see her as a guest again one day soon. Tiffany, this was a great interview, look forward to the next!

@@reasonsgarb Thank you so much for your kind response! I am truly interested in knowing more about Queen Victoria. I'd love to know your opinion of the Queen's friendship with Abdul Karim. Not sure if you saw the movie? But I'm curious how accurate the film is? Do you have a webpage or an active podcast?

It needs to be noted that Albert was quite a serious musician and composer of some reasonable Lieder and also a few choral works.

Hello have a wonderful concert. Do you think that Military Marches are Classical Music? What about Film Score? Do you prefer to socialize with Musicians/Artists or with Non-Musicians/Artists or Neither? Thanks and keep up the great work...

If only all our public leaders played or sang, music would get much more support than it currently does.
