This song just taps into so many different things- the feeling of sadness, anguish, loss, and yet- hope. The dream that could be, the human spirit in its imperfect yet perfectly complex entirety… we want to live forever, to live forever and let each and every one of our individual personalities explode into a million stars, for everyone to marvel at… this song just ignites those feelings of beautiful melancholy and untamable passion. We will listen, forever. Thank you, Queen… thank you, Freddie.

Written by Brian May for HIghlander after being inspired by a scene where the lead immortal protagonist watches his love grow old and die while he stays young forever. One of the reasons I love that film is that it inspired some of Queen's greatest work.

Jason Lycett, I'm so sorry for your loss :'-( May your dad R.I.P.♥ I know all to well how painful it is to loose someone you love. I was 26 when my mom passed...4 1/2 years ago, I lost the love of my life. He was only 34. This song makes me weep. Time is something you need to give yourself. YOU remember something, it's ok to take all the time in the world you need to mourn the loss of your dad. DON'T let ANYONE tell you differently! Music, is healing for me. Even when I do nothing but cry. It helps me to feel the pain and let loose with a good cry. I couldn't listen to music for a long time after I lost my boyfriend. Every song reminded me of him. I couldn't deal with it. But, then I found certain songs that made me start to remember all the precious times we had together ❣ I don't ever want to forget him or my mom ❣ ❣ ❣ Keep your dad's memory alive, always ❣ Love and Peace ❣

The story is a bit altered in the movie, but nonetheless it's a mesmerising movie. Freddie did not know that he has AIDS until 1987, so 2 years after the live aid. Also, they went in concerts for almost a year before live aid (so they weren't "rusty"). The way that they presented the facts in the movie had a much bigger impact on the crowd. Really nice movie! I love it!

When my Nan was sick with cancer she often laid in bed very quiet and withdrawn. She never sung any songs in her late days but one day we had the music channel on when "Who wants to live forever" came on. She was a massive Queen fan. Her eyes opened, she sat up straight and she started singing every lyric. I remember it haunting me so well because she must have felt every lyric so deeply at that time. I'll always think of her through Queen's music. She asked for "One year of love" to be played at her funeral

It would be fascinating to see how we evolve if I could indeed live forever, but nothing is infinite, not even the universe. Everything has an end. Living forever would give you time to fulfill any desire and dream, learn so much but if you were the only one to do this, that would be a very lonely existence. Seeing your friends and family turn to dust over time, see the horrors or peace out future selves unleash on the world. Witness the end of the Earth..... When as a child you ask that question, it sounds wonderful. But as an adult, it sounds like the worst torment any devil could inflict.... I'm happy that I know at some point I will return to what I am made of, Stars. Every element in my body is forged from them. To know I am made of such stuff and be so tiny as to not even matter to the universe as a whole makes me very happy. Queen are the best, even heard a couple of early teens singing the opening bars of Rhapsody earlier, I joined in just for giggles. Good times

***** But if you were truly an "Eternal Man" those periods in time would be but a brief span. History teaches us that no over bloated , corrupt , decadent Society will last forever. There will be much better times ahead after the pain of the crash. Just think of the following you would have after having lived a Century or two. What you could teach the young so that these types of bastardized Societies eventually would go the way of the Do-Do.You would be able to personally refute someone who was trying to change History. "Why I was at Gettysburg and that was not what Mr. Lincoln said at all" lol ;-) Peace Y

Can everyone just take a moment & appreciate the beauty of Sir Brian May' voice & writing skills. This is a complete masterpiece on his part. He wrote it, sang a beautiful part of it, played the guitar magnificently & guided the orchestra as well. This is no less than May's Bohemian Rhapsody. I always did adore him for his calmness , education ,intelligence & of course his great looks but after listening to this the respect that I have for him has reached another level. Simply EXQUISITE... Of course Freddie Mercury has the most powerful & engaging voice but I can't stop but appreciate Sir Brian's angelic voice. Roger & Deaken were powerful as well. A wholesome meaningful & amazingly beautiful masterpiece. R.I.P. Freddie Mercury.

I adore Sir Brian's vocals in the beginning, the softness of the tone. The contrast to Freddie's singing afterward is like a transition from a mourning prayer to a victorious choir, and it's fantastic.

I think the same, his voice has a softness of its own, i also listened to the song too much lobe can kill you sang by both Freddie and Brian and i enjoyed more Brian's version of the song rather than Freddie's

You're right, that moment 1:02 when Freddie's voice enters the music is devine, it gains extra colour by contrast with Brian's voice. Also, if you want to listen to the version where Freddie Mercury also sings the first verse, you should check out a specific film's version where he does! You can find it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/isuRn9GayKrOe30.html it's hauntingly beautiful ❤
