In September 2008 Queen + Paul Rodgers answered a call from Ukraine’s Elena Pinchuk AnitiAids Foundation to reach out to the youth of the country with the message “Don’t Let AIDS Ruin Your Life” by playing a free Life Must Go On Aids awareness concert performed in Ukraine’s second largest city Kharkiv’s historic Freedom Square to a live audience of over 350,000. More than 10 million watched the show live on television.
The band recall that event as “an unforgettable experience…one of those rare things in life you know you will never forget. A meeting in music, but also a coming together to fight a common affliction…”
In support of relief efforts in Ukraine’s challenges against a new affliction, Queen is returning to that historic concert with a KZfaq special screening aimed at drawing donations for international relief efforts. “Queen + Paul Rodgers Live In Ukraine” plays on KZfaq Saturday, March 19th at 10A PDT / 1P EDT / 5P GMT. Please make your donations to: UNHCR - The UN Refugee Agency.

Queen is the best band in the world in my lifetime. I love their music in the 80s, 90 . And so on . I was 18 1980 . I still do listen to queen every day almost. If I feel sad , angry or frustrated. I listen to queen and I feel like a queen . If they don’t play Bohemian Rhapsody in my funeral- I will come back and play it myself 👑

for me it's not the same without Freddy Mercury. The remainder of Queen could have great impact on the music business today if they would start writing songs for other bands like BeeGees Barry and Robin Gibbs did after Maurice passed away. so much of modern music is flat and uninteresting, Imagine a Brian May's style guitar Solo coming from a modern band today...would be such a wake up call to the music business as a whole. Passing on their expertise is one way to be certain to keep their legacy alive for generations to come.

I had no idea that the same place filled with cheers and smiles would be covered with rubble and sandbags 15 years later, but I hope we can rejoice in such a scene together again in the near future! Quite a few of the people shown here might have passed away or called bereaved during the past year. Queen is the greatest band in history and my favorite band. Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor are legends. I know all their songs by heart, watched all possible documentaries about them. I dream of going to their concert, albeit without the greatest Freddie and the wonderful John, because the love of my life - Mercury died fifteen years before my birth, so I didn’t even theoretically have the opportunity to see him live or just be on the same planet with him at the same time. He will live forever in my heart. No one but you. I am from Kharkiv and, for the moment, my main desire is that the war ends and I can return to my beautiful city, from which, due to the war, I had to move to a calmer region of Ukraine on the 7th day. We had to go through a lot during the 6 days that we spent there. I really hope that when there is a peaceful sky and calmness over my country, my favorite band will come to us again and I will be able to attend their concert.💛💙 #nowar #нетвойне Queen - величайшая группа в истории и моя любимая группа. First thing first, thank you to all for doing the concert. Simply Wow ! One of the best shows I.ve seen in my 58 years. And i've seen quite a few. Whatever happened to musicians of this generation ? why they don't do meaningful get together concerts for causes like they used to do in the past? Like Stop the War in Ukraine for example. I don't know what's happened to people these days , it seems have become so selfish . All about me me me. I wish all a good luck and please help end the killings, the wars of idiots by idiots.

What a memories.... I was 16 years old that autumn, just started studying in Kharkiv, and get a job to be one of 50 volunteers for this concert. Few days before this we've been working on streets, distributing flyers and free condoms))) pretty funny job)) we earned nearly 50 bucks each, and main bonus for volunteers were tickets to fun zone at concert, bags and Tshirts for everyone. My god, I was a few meters from main stage, with 300 000 people behind me, and that concert was WILD!))) Still remember, like yesterday....

That artist is Paul Rodgers, apparently the best so far to sing with the Queen as tribute for Freddie. Sad to say John Deacon ,the Queen's bassist preferred to stay out of limelight otherwise it would have been absolute blast !

I’m crying. Kharkiv 14 years ago. Much has been destroyed today. Young people in the audience are now in their late 30s-40s. Men in military. Many women with their children fleeing to safety. May they live to experience this same exhilaration and elation in their future. Thank you Queen!

Дякую за неймовірний концерт. In 2008, I was a poor student and had no money for the concerts of my favorite bands. So Life Must Go On was my first concert ever because it was free. I remember people sang great songs with Queen. It was incredible 🤩

После этого концерта я перестал ходить на концерты наших звёзд. Уровень исполнения, качество музыки, энергия которую отдали музыканты... Это запомнилось на всю жизнь, всю жизнь я буду нести в себе ту искру, которую мне подарили в этот день Мэй, Тейлор, Роджерс. Мне, и ещё 350 - ти тысяч таких же как и я, что были на площади!

Just watched that whole Gig, not a Queen fan, but that was fantastic, so many happy faces, so much joy, sad to think what has happened to these beautiful Ukrainian People now, saw a banner with Mariupol on it, and think what has become of those once happy and Free folk. В Мариуполе ВСУ прятали танки в жилых кварталах,а нацисты выгоняли украинцев из своих квартир и всё забирали у них еду и воду,жители прятались в подвалах и кто выходил того стреляли в спину ,а потом из танков расстреливали дома,чтобы не достались жителям Мариуполя. Нацисты прятались за спинами мирных жителей-живым щитом. Это они убили много мирного народа.
