Hello everybody,
please try to watch in HD and with headphones.
This new video I made in two days and it is about six Queens of England or Scotland who either have been born or married into the Houses of York, Tudor or Stuart.
I only used the once I thought were most important in history or I really like very much.
The Queens:
Elizabeth Woodville, Queen consort of Edward of York aka King Edward IV
Anne Neville, Queen consort of Richard of York aka King Richard III
Elizabeth of York, Daughter of Edward of York and Queen consort of Henry Tudor aka King Henry VII
Anne Boleyn, Queen consort of Henry Tudors aka King Henry VIII
Mary Tudor, Queen of England in her own right aka Queen Mary I. or Bloody Mary
Elizabeth Tudor, Queen of England in her own right aka Queen Elizabeth I. or The Virgin Queen etc.
Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland in her own right aka Mary, Queen of Scots

If I were a boy,not a girl. None of this will happened -Mary Tudor Henry wouldn't divorce Catherine of Argon No blood will fall or wages of war between Catholics and Protestants Anne Boleyn wouldn't be beheaded. Elizabeth wouldn't be an unmarried queen, burden with her troubles alone Jane wouldn't die from childbirth.. Anne of Cleves dignity will be preserved Katherine Howard, a naive child will not be beheaded and live a longer life And Catherine parr would marry the man she truly love but this time she wouldn't died from bearing a child. History is beautiful

jane and Catherine parr more than likely would of as she was a woman of noble birth and what she died from sounds like a hernia because she was lying down as women of the time were told to do after childbirth... Henry probably would have divorced Catherine even if Mary was a boy as she was approaching menopause and therefore he would want more sons. elizabeth probs wouldnt have been born

None of this still wouldn't happen if Henry was more responsible king. But he wasn't good king, nor father, nor husband. So it wasn't Mary's sex, it was Henry's incompetence. He could still wait until Catherine dies, then marry Anne, the tension between these two would be more bearable, Mary would remain legitimate, Henry could stay loyal to the pope and have the marriage with Anne on better therms, Elisabeth would remain legitimate, and giving the troublemaking behaviour of Anne's brother and father, Henry would easily get rid of them, without hurting neither of his two daughter. Just with different decision, the problems both in court and in England would be solved if Henry actually knew how to rule. And that is why I will always prefer York over Tudor.

That's nobility :D But you can also fit them into the family tree since Anne Boleyn is Elizabeth I. mother and Anne Neville is the daughter of Richard Neville who is the cousin of Edward IV who, on the other hand, is the father of Elizabeth of York :D

They're all tragic Queens but for me the most tragic one was Mary I of England because today people call her bloody Mary while we don't know what it was like and men in her position have done things much worse.

That’s true but “bloody Mary” was a primarily reference from protestants to her, due to executions agreed by Mary and the catholic church, as punishment to people who didn’t want to convert to true faith as she called it.

You're right and it's not at all fair or right. Also Mary I wanted a family. She wanted heirs! She genuinely wanted a husband and children to follow her. In spite of how her and her mother were treated by her father. Had her father not treated her so badly, the whole illegitimate thing. But also isolating her and treating her so shabbily. Also denying her of a good marriage and the chance of children when she was younger. Her heirs would've been his heirs! Her mother had at least six pregnancies so she possibly would've had pregnancies too. Mary I had a royal pedigree that was strong and her birth was legitimate, period. The king was really stupid and missed a good opportunity with his eldest daughter in his treatment of her. All because of her defiance of him? According to the experts I believe? It was sad and lonely for her I think to have had to live that way.

in a weird way this video is an anthem a form of empowerment for woman , I am a historian my self and have always loved the late medieval early modern era queens. because of reign I got interested in Catharine de Medici , and am studying Scottish history at the moment , I have listened and watched this video countless times since I discovered it and have come to love it it gives me a boost of encouragement and confidence , when I hear the words of these great and amazing woman from the past . even if they are scripted.

I know a lot of people don't like Reign. But I sort of do, I think it's great how they have modernise it I think it will get a younger audience hopefully more interested in history.

I agree with you. I myself got into history thanks to The Tudors which is also not very accurate but it gives the basic ideas of how politics and society worked. The whole dynamic got me so interested that I'm studying history at university now and I hope to write my master thesis (I have to write my bachelor in English since it is my major) about Mary Stuart or Anne Boleyn and their portrayal in the media (and how this influenced how she is seen today).

I liked her since her father's death when she told Joffrey "or maybe he'll give me yours". She was annoying at first when she was all "but I'm supposed to marry prince Joffrey, I love him and I'll be his queen and have his babies". But after that, she became smarter and stronger, which she had to be to survive in Kings Landing

I am really disappointed you didn't consider Margaret Tudor as one of the most important to history, after all it was through her marriage to King James IV of Scotland that the Union of the Crowns happened in 1603! However as she's not really been portrayed in media all that much I can understand it would have been difficult to find suitable clips for her.

+Margaret-Ann Fletcher (Maggie) I know she was very important but I did not really like the potrayal of her in The White Queen as a religious maniac which was rather on the crazy then the intelligent side, so I decided to exclude her. Maybe The White Princess, where she will be played by Michelle Fairley aka Caitlin Stark from game of Thrones, will portray her in a better light :)

That's not Magaret Tudor, that's her grandmother Margaret Beaufort but I can understand the confusion considering they all had the same names! I suppose the closest portrayal to Margaret Tudor would be the "The Tudors" Margaret even though that character was based more upon Mary "Rose" Tudor. She's unfortunately rather elusive!

I'm considering it. But I have not yet found a good song for her and I was not really pleased with The White Princess series. I had hoped for more. For a stronger and better played Elizabeth but I will see what I can do. BUT to make such a video can take months (and sometimes even years) because I need inspiration. So don't expect it in the next few weeks unless an idea hits me so much I have to do it on the spot :D

The Tudors is the best show I wasn't that keen on reign barely any of the show is historically true and I hated they used Morden songs in it, and they made Elizabeth look bad and Mary good which in real life wasn't the truth.

I do not think they portray Elizabeth as a bad person or Mary as good, atleast not in Season 4 any longer. Both are young queens feeling threatened to lose their throwns and their heads by the other simply existing. But it is true, it is far far away from real history. I kind of see it as an alternate interpretation of how things could have been and getting young people interested in history. It worked way back with The Tudors for me (I'm actually studying history at University to become a teacher), why not for the next Generation with Reign or The Crown or even Victoria? If the spark of interest is there, the facts will come. In a time where the Internet is always with us, a quick check on wikipedia can lead to hours of reading about historical figures :D

Actually my plan is to write my master thesis about the media portrayal of a famous queen and how it influences the view on them. As I still have about three years until then, I have all the time in the world to decide on which queen I want to do it. In closer consideration are Anne Boleyn, Elizabeth I, Mary Stuart and Queen Victoria.

MissDatherinePierce I'm just not keen on reign mainly because of some "fan girls" I know love Mary and hate Elizabeth just based on the show, plus if you're going to write a thesis on how the media portrayal of a Queen influenced the view on them it's probably best to do Anne Boleyn as she suffered the most from that and people's view of her then and now are far different. Women at that time would've thought of her as the other women and a whore, but now she's seen as a strong, ambitious, independent and one of the most if not the most influential queens.

Idk how people like Bloody Mary tbh.. I don’t know much abt her but I hate her bc she did so much wrong.. also I hate Mary Stuart’s cousin queen Elizabeth.. (love Mary Stuart from reign tho)
