This is a rather beautiful song about love & hate, obsession & stalking, closeness versus distance, psychic pain, grief, and acceptance. The way it switches from a tense, sad song to a bittersweet eulogy around 2:40 depicts a character opening up about their real feelings about someone or something. That someone else could be earlier versions of the character theirself, or it could be someone else the character loved & hated. The object of passion-hate could be drugs or something else-perhaps it's non-human. The song breaks down for the last minute into a kind of mental breakdown or perhaps a nearly conscious-ending orgasm: la petite mort.

One of the greatest Rock n Roll bands that never disappoint. Every record blows my mind. This is one of my all time favourite Qotsa songs.

I got 'you're solid gold i'll see you in hell' tattooed across the back of my thighs 5 years back. Knew it'd be my favourite song when i was a kid stoned for the first ever time and listened to it on repeat the whole hour bus home. i still love when people ask about the tattoo and i get to play them this.

Hypnotic mixed with a strange desire stemmed with obsession. Always loved this tune and the weight of it
