The SCANDAL Mongers Podcast

The SCANDAL Mongers Podcast

9 ай бұрын

Few royal writers merit the description ‘insider’ as much as much as the super well connected Lady Colin Campbell.
Moving through aristocratic and upper-class circles, she has been attuned to whispers of scandal for decades. One of the first writers - perhaps THE first - to reveal the true state of the Charles-Diana marriage, she has gone on to write numerous outspoken, controversial but also wildly entertaining books.
And she’s at her indiscreet best with Andrew and Phil.
This episode also contains a new element of the Scandal Mongers format - an interview with a listener. Royal expert Julie Koenig joins us from Ohio to discuss the stories that fascinate her.
Lady Colin Campbell’s books can be bought at the Scandal Mongers Bookshop - along with thousands more. All profits are shared between independent booksellers and podcasters.

Very interesting interview- Diana and I are the same age and she filled the Australian magazines every week but a lot of this information is new to me. And if you dare say diana wasn't a virgin bride and she had the first affair, was a manipulator, Camilla wasn't the cause of the breakdown of the marriage you get shouted down as not knowing anything, people want to believe in the fairy tale diana the shy virgin who was forced to marry this old prince who never gave up his bit on the side, that Charles and camilla are fornicators adulterers and he shouldn't be king.... it's very sad the guilded story of poor Di persists and puts a black cloud over this king and his queen.

William and Catherine are the real deal. He is such a good man..in direct contrast to the ginger bully. He has a wonderful family and don't think for one moment he isnt 100 percent loyal to his beautiful wife and his kids. The Middletons a close loving family were great for Will. A comment on having guests from across the pond, such as the woman (sorry, I can’t remember her name) from Ohio. I think it’s a great idea to see just how people in other countries, who have had links in the past with Britain or currently have links, view the Royal Family based on what they read or hear-or what they have experienced themselves. Your guest today was actually an emigree from the UK so she does have some skin (and more) in the game-she actually braved the crowds for the Coronation! And she gives “talks” about the RF to people in Ohio which kind of boggles my mind. I can’t imagine myself, as a Canadian who lived in the UK, who follows the RF quite avidly, giving talks here in rural Arizona. They are more interested in US issues and, truth be told, aren’t even sure who Harry and Meghan are. And don’t care. I look at the tabloids weekly as I stand in the grocery line and H & M are rarely in the headlines although Kate certainly is-and usually in a positive light. Even back in Canada, I am the only one of my circle, which includes New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario and BC who is interested in the RF or the Montecito duo. They all roll their eyes if I say anything so I keep my “hobby” to myself and do my following quite privately. Anyway, if you can find some folk from New York City or, especially, LA (please not Kinsey Schofield though-a private person, whose Royal following is private) to chat with I think you’d get a much better idea of the true extent of Royal interest in the US :)

Your second guest was lovely but H&M's team deemed it a "nearly catastrophic car chase." How could that be perceived as anything less than "high speed" especially in light of Diana's death? Don't blame H&M false aspersions of the press. Of course, given this allegedly happened in the traffic logged streets NYC, which doesn't fuss over much bigger name celebrities, common sense nor media needed the mayor to tell them it was more bunk from "was that a pap on a scooter" H&M.

Please understand this, Prince William did NOT have an affair with Rose Hanbury or anyone else. This was a malicious rumor cooked up by a inebriated reporter thinking it was be funny. Well it is not funny and just shows the malicious and narcissistic behavior of Meghan and Harry and those they run with. And just to support what I’m saying, princess, Catherine’s sister, name to recent baby girl, “Rose“. What sister would name her newborn child the same name of her brother-in-law‘s mistress? It’s ludacris in the extreme, but their family would never do something this sadistic.

Yes I thought Diana was a super star but women were so jealous of her and nasty about her. I resent Lady C who has done nothing but defaming her. Diana was a young women and she married a man who was still smitten with another woman. Thus aggravated her child hood trauma when her mother. Then her father left her for her step mother. She had fear of rejection and fear of being abandoned. Lady C is implying she was some kind of a slut. I mean Lady C if you hear her story and her feud with Colin Campbell. She is nothing more than a pretentious poseur how dare she discredit Diana. Let's face it they used her as a breeding cow.

Lady C is generallu for when it comes to Diana. "Fear or rejection and abandonment" underscore BPD which drove her actions before, during and after the RF and was promiscuous (including with married). This is documented.

The house keepers diary by Wendy Berry who worked at Highgove where diana & charles first 10 years of marriage shows just how maniplative Diana was & how she used the kids as a weapon to get sympathy from the press & public to depict charles as an uncaring dad . She recalls first hand accounts she witnessed the fights & horrible treatment diana did to charles & some staff when she was in a rotten mood

Meh. Lady C is lovely, but i question some of her opinions. Diana was 19 years old when she married Charles. 19. Let that sink in. She was the daughter of an Earl, with a deeper familial pedigree than Charles, arguably. Some of Lady C´s shade is spiteful. She is a dichotomy, has much wisdom and attractiveness, but also can be a beeyotch about Diana. Cést la vie.

Why does Lady C run Diana down constantly, I understand she didn’t like her, however she loves Charles and Camilla m that’s fine, but each time she spews gossip on Diana I am sure it hurts Prince William and delights Harry. Please don’t have all these negative videos on Diana, I love hearing about the royals, but I dislike people talking about the dead as they have no voices. Ps. Love to hear a video on the Covid every aspect of it 🍁🇨🇦🙋‍♀️

Couldn't agree with you more. I read an article years ago that Colin Campbell was the best friend of Barbara Cartland the writer. Cartlands daughter rain married Diana's father. Rain sounded very much like the evil stepmother I had, taking over everything in our family's life including the money. Not a nice woman. It sounds to me like there's resentment between Colin Campbell and Lady Diana because of her friendship with Cartland. I stopped watching her show when she constantly spewed trash about Princess Diana whenever her name popped up. Some people just can't have respect for the Dead!!

Of course speaking ill of the dead is unfair. Yet we need honest historical analysis and discussion now more than ever. Alas if people lead very public and especially controversial lives they will inevitably be analyzed and discussed after their death. That is how we all learn from the behavior, and misbehavior of past generations.

I was about to subscribe, you give a nice presentation, however your lack of knowledge about the Bowes-Lyon family has turned me off. The genetic anomaly that produced two or three mentally deficient cousins of QE, Queen Mother, is not traced to a Bowes-Lyon, but to the wife married to a Bowes-Lyon. Thus not in the Bowes-Lyon blood line.

I find Lady Colin Campbell insufferable, she name drops all her contacts and connections, clearly loathed Diana and as such does not provide a balanced point of view. I do not get why she attacks her for extra marital relationships, she was a young woman out of her depth with trying to negotiate her way thru a marriage, with a husband didn’t love her, cared more for a mistress, just heard the Barbara Cartland reference - more name dropping. I actually refuse to listen to her go on and on, and I am sure that won’t concern her. I did not enjoy this episode of your podcast cast balanced factual reporting, as has been given in previous episodes, which I have enjoyed but this one is none thing better than gossip.

Why shouldn't she talk about her friends? Her friends and acquaintances give her a great deal of tips and information. Barbara Cartland gave her 50 pages of notes about Diana. Diana was Barbara's step granddaughter. Lady C has actual experience of Diana and worked with her on a book.

Oh yes Andrew, I very much agree with you on the 'bad blood' from the Hanoverians and Bowes-Lyons, and now we have the Spencers in the mix? God help them. I remember when Diana was introduced as Charles' fiancee, I was only a girl then and admittedly I got caught up in the fanfare of a "fairy tale." But it would seem the Prince & Princess of Wales today have been the living embodiment. William choosing Catherine as his wife is probably the smartest decision he could ever make and just watching them together on engagements you see how they mirror one another and are in such sync. I'm an American and outside a small but noisy contingent in the twitter sphere we don't hear murmurings about William (poss) having affairs, certainly nothing like it was during his parents' marriage but who knows? It would be a big disappointment if it's true. As much as I love & adore Catherine I think my favorite royal is Princess Charlotte. That girl has spirit and seems to be molded in the vein of a Philip & Anne but then throw in the late queen and Diana ntm her mother Catherine and you have all the ingredients for a tremendous powerhouse. Mark my words, that girl is going to be one to watch for the ages.
