Poverty really breaks a person down. We don’t get to talk about it much, but the trauma of poverty can be insane. Being able to get this moment of joy and perspective hopefully works wonders. I relate to Will’s story. I’m 31 now and in a significantly better place than when I was 26. Rooting for Will!

it's insane how much school costs in America. Well, for the most part. Everything besides "community college" costs an arm and a leg, but community college is portrayed as a joke by many Americans and almost shameful to admit you attend and often not good enough for employers wanting bachelors degrees for entry level jobs. Here in Canada, you can get a decent job (depending on the field of course) with a 2 year college diploma. The post secondary system is much different here - Colleges are normally institutions for hands on careers, whereas University is for academic fields. Many programs you can study are offered in both college and university, but a lot of the time it's not necessary for entry level jobs. I took 3 separate programs in school. did a 1 year college exploration, 2 year photography (where we were charged fees to all have the same cameras), and a 3 year graphic design program. My student loans also covered cost of living for most of these years, too. I have $32k in student loan debt. For 3 separate diplomas, 5 years. That's just a bit more than the lower end of entry level job salaries for junior graphic designers. I COULD go to university and spend 1-2 years (only need 1 at certain schools with transfer credits, but others can take more time to complete) to get a bachelor's degree, which would open up higher salaried positions such as art directors.

This is a extremely well put together young man who debt is weighing down on everything. He doesn't think too much on how he eats, self care, clothing and living situation because paying off his debt is his main priority and it should be. It's hard to think about anything else when such a large burden is on you.

Queer Eye really put his finances on blast, gave him a $70/week haircut program and told him good luck lmaooo! William was such a nice guy - I hope that they offered some financial support - they sure got paid with the Google & Lyft paycheck in this episode - so drop him so coin too!

$18/week, one cut a month. They got him a fully/beautifully furnished apartment, tablet, new wardrobe, grooming products (JVN could have gotten a store bought lip-scrub, but went homemade, to see that self care can be on a budget). I agree with other people that delta could have paid off his loans since they used for advertising. But I think even if it was a "add"episode, QE did their part amazingly

@@thaisalberti4613 $18/week with crippling student loans still isn't amazing. No one said they didn't do a good job. You know Queer Eye is a whole production - I'm not asking the hosts to open their pockets, the production is a different story.
